I've been filling and dissolving my lips with different Juvederm products for a few years now. I recently dissolved filler above my border and it looked fine until I got a lip flip. now that I have a lip flip, I'm seeing filler above the lip again. I'm going in to dissolve once again and I was wondering if my baseline may look different than it did before receiving any injections. I've probably had around 6 syringes and dissolved once.
Answer: Permanent changes may result from temporary fillers. Injectable fillers, even temporary ones, have a propensity for eliciting an immune response and causing scar tissue, nodules and bumps. After 6 syringes of filler, you may be correct that some of your lip changes are from scar tissue and not persistent hyaluronic acid .Hope this helps. Sincerely, Dr Joseph

Answer: Lip filler Dear Patient, it's important to understand that repetitive use of dermal fillers can have an impact on the baseline appearance of your lips. Over time, fillers can change the natural shape and structure of the lips, which may make them appear different even after the fillers have been dissolved. In addition, the repeated use of fillers can cause stretching of the skin and tissues around the lips, which can make it more difficult to achieve the desired outcome after dissolving the fillers. It's possible that your baseline appearance may have changed after receiving multiple injections and dissolving the filler once. The extent of the changes will depend on several factors, including the amount and type of filler used, the frequency of injections, and your individual anatomy. When you go in to dissolve the filler again, it's important to have an open and honest conversation with your injector about your goals and expectations. They can help you understand what to expect after the filler is dissolved and may recommend additional treatments to help improve the appearance of your lips, such as a lip flip or a different type of filler. It's also important to take a break from injections and allow your lips to fully heal before considering any additional treatments. This can help prevent further damage to the natural structure of your lips and allow you to achieve a more natural and balanced appearance. Best of luck !

Answer: Permanence of a lip filler As a general rule of thumb fillers, do not leave any permanent long-term volume. Long-term changes are the exception rather than the rule. Variables that can influence scar tissue formation are primarily related to incidental excess bleeding, which increases inflammation during the healing process. If you’ve had surgical intervention, then that is more likely explanation for long-term changes in your lips. If it’s been six months, then there’s no point in injecting Enzymatic reversal, drugs Some long term changes from using fillers, don’t have clinical explanations. Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD
