Hello, i just thought about if it was okay to get a forehead lift or botox to elevate the eyebrows after a ptosis surgery? Would it affect the results of the eyelid surgery? Thanks!
Answer: Is it safe to get a forehead lift or Botox after a ptosis surgery? Hello and thank you for your question. A forehead lift and Botox often follow a surgery to correct ptosis (drooping) of the eyelids. After an eyelid surgery, patients may experience increased dissatisfaction with the appearance of their forehead area or may simply want to extend their fresh, new look. You will want to consider these factors first before proceeding, however. You will want to allow sufficient time to heal from your eyelid procedure before receiving a Botox injection. This minimizes the risks — which are small — of Botox relapsing your ptosis. Similarly, you will want to assess the final results of your ptosis surgery before determining how much forehead augmentation you will need. A board-certified facial plastic surgeon can provide you with an aesthetic recommendation and a comprehensive surgical plan during an in-person evaluation. Good luck!- Elbert T. Cheng, MD

Answer: Totally fine! Facial Sculpting with Fillers | Brow Ptosis | Browlift | Upper Blepharoplasty | Eyelid Lift Hello and thank you for your question. A formal evaluation would be needed to determine the best treatment. There are both surgical and non-surgical options to correct this, depending on your exact situation. For less significant issues, there are nonsurgical treatments: To give the eyebrows a nice lift, we use injectable fillers to improve the eyebrow, upper eye, forehead and temple. A filler is placed on the bone and in the fat pads of these areas to contour and lift without it looking overdone. We use cannulas to limit pain and swelling. Surgery (browlift and/or upper blepharoplasty) is a great option for more significant improvement- for example if there is more substantial eyebrow drooping. I suggest getting a consultation with an experienced cosmetic dermatologist and facial sculpting expert, or an aesthetic facial plastic surgeon like Dr. Donald Groves; we are both located right here in Los Angeles. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Forehead Lift or Botox After Ptosis Surgery Thank you for your question. Having eyelid surgery can increase the chances of Botox causing ptosis actually. This is still rare but something to consider. Forehead lift, on the other hand, is safe after ptosis surgery. It really depends on how long it has been and what exactly was done. For example, was skin removed from the upper lid or only the muscle resuspended? Be sure to do some research to ensure that you are seeing a reputable provider that is most familiar with facial surgery. Hope this helps.Best of luck,DrC

Answer: Brow Lift after Ptosis Surgery When you have ptosis of the eyelid you tend to subconsciously raise your eyebrows to assist in opening the eyes. Once the ptosis surgery is completed your eyes will be more open and most patients will then subconsciously relax their eyebrows which will result in the brow dropping a few millimeters or more. A careful examination of the upper eyelid and brow region can determine whether a brow lift is necessary or whether a small mount of Botox could be used to assist in lifting and shaping the brow. You should discuss this with your surgeon.

Answer: Botox or forehead surgery following ptosis surgery I agree with others. It would be fine to perform either neurotoxin injections or forehead surgery after ptosis surgery. Check with your ptosis surgeon, but in general I recommend at least 6 weeks before undergoing Botox injections; especially in the glabellar area. Surgery in the eyelids can create potential spaces where the Botox can spread where it shouldn't. Would wait 2-3 months before forehead surgery.
