I got Botox on June 28th for my migraines, and a few of the shots were along my brow. Since maybe a week or two ago, I've no longer been able to furrow my brow, and I'm wondering if and when that'll wear off, or if that lasts throughout the whole treatment period, until the next injection (6 or 9 months, I forget). Thank you!
Answer: Botox for migraines Hello and thank you for your question. The effects of Botox typically last 3-4 months. Your results are common and you should begin to notice the ability to move this muscle more once the Botox begins to wear off. I hope this information helps and best of luck to you!

Answer: Botox for migraines Botox is a paralyzing agent. It acts to paralyze the muscle in the area it is injected. The most common use of botox is cosmetic--paralyzing the muscles that normally "furrow" the brow and cause wrinkles can help prevent early formation of wrinkles, leading to a younger appearance. When botox is used in the treatment of migraines, muscles are paralyzed in order to release pressure of a nerve that is suspected to be triggering your migraine headaches. This is great for the improvement of migraine symptoms, but you should also be aware of the effects of paralyzing this muscle--no longer able to "furrow" or wrinkle your brow. These effects typically last 3-4 months in the average patient. Patients who have been treated longer with botox can develop a resistance and the botox wears off sooner, such as in 2 months. Perhaps more importantly, you should be aware that using botox as treatment for migraines is usually a bridge to surgery. If you respond well to botox and have a significant decrease in your migraines, that may mean you are a candidate for a surgical procedure that can reduce or even cure your migraine headaches. You should see a well trained plastic surgeon for a consultation regarding these procedures. Thanks, Dr. Howland

Answer: Botox for Migraines Good day! The effects of Botox normally last 3 to 4 months. If a patient regularly has Botox then the effects may not last as long since the muscles begin to resist the effects. Botox is mainly used to temporarily relax the injected area which is why you are not able to furrow your brow. The stress of furrowing and frowning is alleviated and relieves the muscle causing less migraines to those who suffer from nerve pain. In hopes my response has helped! Best of Luck

Answer: How Long Does Botox Last? Fro most patients, Botox results last 3-4 months. In your case, the full effect was to eliminate the ability to furrow your brows. You will probably keep these results for another month or 2, and then the effects will gradually diminish. You will be able to slightly furrow your brow at first, and several days or a couple of weeks later, you'll be able to furrow more and more.
