I am in search for a surgeon who specializes in bbl. Unfortuately i ha e been turned down a few times now due to my cardiac history. I have had surgeries in the past including a tummy tuck(12yrs ago)but for some reason my pacemaker(ive had for 16 yrs) is scaring off surgeons. Are there any surgeons out there that will do a bbl on someone like me. Or should i give up looking? Everything else i pass with flying colors but when i say pacemaker i fail.
Answer: Are there surgeons who do high risk (pacemaker) BBLs or should I give up? Hello @Original677392, thank you for your question. . It is absolutely essential that you obtain clearance from your cardiologist. That said, Many conditions allow surgical procedures to be performed, however, an assessment appointment and medical examination are required to determine whether they can be performed. To obtain more information and recommendations, it is best to consult one or more board-certified plastic surgeons. Best wishes! Alan Gonzalez MD, FACS.

Answer: Pacemakers and Surgery Hi Original677392, Underlying conditions often present a challenge to surgeons as it adds risk to you the patient during the procedure. No surgery is without risk, and having any previous medical/cardiac history adds to your risk of during or after surgery complications, which makes surgeons often reluctant to take on these cases for the purposes of elective cosmetic enhancements. Oftentimes more detailed information is needed such as the reason why you have the pacemaker and your recent cardiac studies detailing the extent of your disease to make a proper evaluation. Answer: BBL candidate Dear Original677392, it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. You will need to get a clearance from your cardiologist prior to surgery. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: Pacemaker BBL I'm sorry for your frustration with this. This all has to do with keeping you safe. In the event that something goes wrong with your pacer during the surgery and you have a cardiac issue many plastic surgeons perform these procedures in smaller office or surgery centers that don't have the staff and capability to handle these sorts of events. But all hope isn't lost! You will need to find a surgeon that is willing to do your surgery in a hospital center where these capabilities are available (provided everything else is cleared medically for you by your cardiologist). Be aware that doing cosmetic surgery in a hospital setting is often more expensive. Hope this helps!
