Is it possible to stay overnight post Breast Augmentation? I feel I would be too worried without medical help following surgery.

In my practice the patients have a choice to stay overnight and there is a nurse on call 24\7. It seems that patients are much more at ease and they don't have to endure a bumpy ride home after surgery. If you are feeling to anxious then you should discuss this with your surgeon. All of our patients go home the day of surgery.  If you want to stay somewhere, you may want to ask your surgeon if this kind of service in your city is available.  There are some post surgery stay facilities in certain cities, perhaps Toronto has this.  An alternative is to hire a nurse to stay with you overnight.  Best of luck with your surgery!

I agree with other surgeons that an overnight stay is not generally necessary, but you are not alone in being anxious about how you will do.  Explain your fears to your surgeon,  and if you are not reassured about going home post-op, you should request an overnight stay.

You can see if there is a facility in your area that offers "aftercare" for cosmetic patients if you are concerned about your recovery.  Also you may inquire if there are any private duty nurses that can spend the evening with you. Good Luck

Thank you for your question.Yes, in my practice, it is possible to stay overnight after having a breast augmentation.  However, instead of the procedure being performed out our in-office outpatient surgery center, I would perform the procedure at one of the eight local hospitals in Palm Beach County, Florida.  There would be an additional charge for the hospital stay but is usually a reasonable fee.  I hope this helps.  Best wishes!William J.
