The vast majority of patients undergoing liposuction are capable of returning to their work the following day. Soreness is usually minimal. My patients may return to full athletic activity as soon as they wish. I ask that a compressive garment be used in the first few weeks.
Recovery from liposuction is pretty quick other than the feeling of being bruised for a week or so. Options probably don't change it too much. It is more the amount that needs to be done and the care with which it is performed. Some swelling may persist for a while but that shouldn't slow you down. You will need to wear some compression to get the best results.Dr Rodger ShorttOakville Plastic SurgeonAssistant Clinical Professor &Director of Cosmetic Surgery Training,McMaster University
Many patients will be back at work in three days, but you will be wearing a compression garment (like spanx) for a week or two and your energy level will be down. Pain is rarely an issue after traditional liposuction, however power tools (laser, ultrasonic etc) will potentially cause other tissue injury that may delay healing and lead to other complications.
There are many good techniques for liposuction. In my opinion, the fastest recovery is often with either traditional or PAL( the non heating component systems).
Thanks for your question. Every patient recovers differently. Typically, recovery can range from 5-7 days for liposuction and up to two weeks for more extensive body lifting procedures.
There is no best recovery time.Recovery time is just what it says it's recovery time. There's no way to speed up or slow down the healing process. The recovery depends on each individual's perception after the procedure and how the procedure is performed. Most patients are back to low impact normal activities in a few days though high impact activities can take three weeks or longer.talk to your plastic surgeon to see what his or her thoughts are about recovery.Best,Mats Hagstrom M.D.
Dear Ana_SavicRDH,Thank you for your clinicalpost. Photographs would certainly behelpful as the answer depends upon several factors such as skin tone andelasticity. If you are young, haveexcellent skin tone and elasticity virtually any liposuction technique, oldschool, old fashion traditional liposuction with tumescent anesthesia andmicrocannulas and power assisted non-thermal systems will all remove fat andthe skill of the aspirating surgeon will determine the overall contour. If your skin is in excellent tone, elasticitywill allow recoil and you’ll have no laxity following these traditionalnon-thermal techniques. However, if you have a degree oflaxity and loose skin and a significant amount of fat reduction of the fatwithout synchronous skin tightening can result in laxity and irregularity. In these circumstances there’s no questionthat thermal liposuction systems such as BodyTite and SmartLipo are shownbetween 17% and 35% area contraction which will be important for thoseindividuals that have had weight loss, weight gain, multiple children or whoare older and do not have the skin tone they once had when they were younger.Regardless of the technique used tocontrol the skin most patients can be back to low impact more sedentaryactivities by the next day and often can return to work in several days. Low impact activities at 3 weeks and highimpact activities such as jogging and running at 6 weeks. A compression garment to control and shrinkwrap the result is usually required and occasionally even a small internaldrain.A consultation with a surgeon thatoffers all forms of liposuction with the breadth and width of options will giveyou the best possible contour outcome and I would seek the opinion of one ortwo well-regarded physicians in the Toronto market.I hope this information is of someassistance and best of luck.To find out more, please visit thelink below. To schedule a consultation simplyfill out the online consult request form or call the number and a clientservice representative will be with you promptly.R. Thank you for your question. 800cc of true fat aspirated during liposuction is a significant amount. You will notice a difference without a doubt, but it takes a solid 3 months to get there, and even more than that for the skin to redrape itself. Fat does not weigh very much, so don't think of...
It could take up to six months for the skin to fully redrape to the new contour. Nevertheless, you should express your concern with your original PS who may recommend laser skin tightening treatments to address the skin asymmetry you're experiencing. Contrary to popular belief, liposuction is n...
Thank you for asking about your liposuction and fat embolism. If you are just having flank liposuction, the risk of fat embolism is very very rare.It is higher on very large volume liposuction (more than 6 L0It is seen with fat injections - anywhere in the bodyAnd it is seen when bones break and...
