The vast majority of patients undergoing liposuction are capable of returning to their work the following day. Soreness is usually minimal. My patients may return to full athletic activity as soon as they wish. I ask that a compressive garment be used in the first few weeks.
Recovery from liposuction is pretty quick other than the feeling of being bruised for a week or so. Options probably don't change it too much. It is more the amount that needs to be done and the care with which it is performed. Some swelling may persist for a while but that shouldn't slow you down. You will need to wear some compression to get the best results.Dr Rodger ShorttOakville Plastic SurgeonAssistant Clinical Professor &Director of Cosmetic Surgery Training,McMaster University
Many patients will be back at work in three days, but you will be wearing a compression garment (like spanx) for a week or two and your energy level will be down. Pain is rarely an issue after traditional liposuction, however power tools (laser, ultrasonic etc) will potentially cause other tissue injury that may delay healing and lead to other complications.
There are many good techniques for liposuction. In my opinion, the fastest recovery is often with either traditional or PAL( the non heating component systems).
Thanks for your question. Every patient recovers differently. Typically, recovery can range from 5-7 days for liposuction and up to two weeks for more extensive body lifting procedures.
