Question

I still have a roll of hard skin under my breasts and on my abdomen. My abdomen has also no necked lumpy and wavy. Should I be concerned at this point surgery March 11 abdomen and flanks. Surgeon said its not a seranoma and still swollen to keep wearing spanks as the initial compression garment caused the skin to come up in a hard ridge. How soon can I look at skin tightening treatments? I want to avoid tummy tuck and further surgery. has been very painful and it hurts to sit upright.

It looks as though swelling throughout the surplus skin of the abdomen is creating any significant contour issues. This should improve with time. However the surplus skin is not going away and if it becomes an aesthetic issue after healing will need surgical removal.

We see patients come in to the office several times a year with this complaint. It most frequently has resulted from overaggressive liposuction on an already thin patient, most commonly with the laser assisted liposuction technique. In other words it should not have happened, it rarely goes away by itself and is very hard if not impossible to correct. It does improve over 3-4 months and I wouldn't seek treatment before that.

It could take up to six months for the skin to fully redrape to the new contour.  Nevertheless, you should express your concern with your original PS who may recommend laser skin tightening treatments to address the skin asymmetry you're experiencing. Contrary to popular belief, liposuction is not about removing the fats altogether.  Its goal is to remove just the right amount of fat in which the surrounding skin can shrink around the new contour.
