5 years post tummy tuck - Vertical, dry, scaly X-Shaped patch above navel - how can I treat this? (Photo)

I had a TT 5 years ago, and this dry x-shaped scaly patch has been presnt for the last 2 years. It’s growm in size. I apply moisturizers, and steriod creams, but nothing makes it go away. Any idea? Please help, thank you!

A dry, scaly patch above the belly button 5 years after a tummy tuck is not something I would assume is normal tummy tuck healing. From the photo, it sits near the vertical scar area, but photos cannot diagnose whether this is irritation, eczema, a fungal issue, a scar-related change, or another skin condition. The fact that it has grown and has not responded to moisturizers or steroid cream makes an in-person skin exam important.
I would see a dermatologist, and also let your plastic surgeon know. A dermatologist may want to examine it closely and consider a scraping, culture, or biopsy depending on how it looks in person. Avoid picking at it or continuing strong steroid creams without guidance. If there is spreading redness, warmth, drainage, bleeding, fever, or worsening pain, seek prompt medical care.

I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what is wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice.
