In general terms, as I realize each case is different, what is the best post-op care if one would have a liposuction of the mons pubis and a labiaplasty (minora) procedure done together? How would one use compression garments for the lipo, while adhering to the "no underwear" rule for the labiaplasty for the few days following the procedure?
Answer: Surgery You probably cannot get compression on the mons and would have swelling for much longer. I would suggest not doing the two procedures at the same time. the labia will also swell with liposuction.

Answer: Compression garment Thank you for your inquiry! Our compression garments that are worn post-op for six weeks are crotchless so you would be able to safely get liposuction and a labiaplasty done at the same time. We encourage multiple procedures d/t one surgery and one recovery. We would love to meet with you in person. Schedule a consultation with a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon like myself to help you reach your goals and create a plan.

Answer: Dual surgery The best answer to your question of how to apply compression to the mons after liposuction but not interfere with the labiaplasty restrictions is, you really can't. This may be one of a few reasons to have these two procedures performed separately. Depending on the extent of the liposuction you may be able to have the liposuction done under local anesthesia. Speak with your surgeon for further clarification and to learn more.

Answer: Dr Paweł Szychta Undergoing liposuction of the mons pubis and labiaplasty (minora) together requires careful post-op care, as both procedures have specific recovery guidelines that need to be balanced.General Post-Op Care for Both Procedures:1. Swelling and Bruising: Both procedures can result in swelling and bruising, so managing discomfort and aiding healing is crucial. You may receive pain medication, antibiotics, or anti-inflammatories. 2. Rest and Elevation: For the first few days, you’ll need plenty of rest, and it may be recommended to elevate the pelvic area to help reduce swelling.Post-Op Care for Labiaplasty (Minora):- No Tight Clothing or Underwear: Most surgeons recommend avoiding tight underwear or clothing that rubs the surgical area for **5–7 days** to prevent irritation or friction on the incisions.- Hygiene: Keep the area clean and dry. You’ll likely be advised to gently clean the area with saline or prescribed washes and to avoid submerging the area in water (like baths) for the first few weeks.- Pain Management: You may experience soreness and swelling. Cold packs applied gently near (but not directly on) the surgical area can help. By carefully following these guidelines and possibly using a specialized compression garment, you should be able to balance recovery for both procedures effectively.

Answer: Postoperative instructions Each provider is responsible for their own postoperative protocol. No compression garment is going to give significant pressure on the pubic area. I’ve never heard of not wearing undergarments after labioplasty. I suggest you ask your provider. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
