lump 7 months after lip filler - what could have caused this and will it dissolve over time? (photos)

Hi misskeeten! It appears that too much filler was placed in the marionette line. Usually, the filler settles into the skin within a few weeks. I would recommend dissolving the filler with Hylanex.

Lumpiness is possible after derma fillers. Usually is due to swelling/bruising immediately after the procedure. This should resolve withing a week. However in some case, the lump does not resolve spontaneously and this may be due to other causes including filler lumps, scar tissue, nodules, and granulomas.
I would suggest to make an appointment wit your practitioner or other medical professional to discuss your concerns and possible options including dissolve the filler if required.

If you were overcorrected with HA filler, you should be able to feel it with your thumb and index finger. If you don't feel a lump, it could be asymmetrical fat. If the area feels lumpy, you may consider the dissolving enzyme, hyaluronidase. If your doctor isn't sure, and if you have concerns, get a second opinion. Hope this helps. Dr Joseph
