Am I a candidate for chin liposuction? (photos)

Hello, I am 32yrs old. I’ve always been fairly skinny (right now I’m 59kg and 168cm). Lately I’ve been noticing my jaw is not defined and I have a double chin, also jowls or marionette lines forming and the corners of my mouth down turned. I’m terrified of letting things get worse. Wondering two things: 1. I’m I a candidate for chin liposuction? 2. What can I do about marionette lines. Will lipo in jowls and morpheus8 help?

A non-invasive skin and soft tissue tightening treatment that is consistently amazing in our patients. We use the Morpheus to exact fractional induced RF into the skin or tissue in order to tighten collagen and stimulate contraction of the tissue. For tissue tightening, Morpheus is ideal for the face and neck and we often combine it with CO2 laser or Ultherapy to further enhance results. Chemical peels and skin resurfacing should be done at least 5 to 7 days after, but can be performed earlier, depending on treatment severity. Avoid exfoliating skin treatments before Morpheus and expect a period of 2-4 weeks for skin contraction to set in.

This is my expertise and a huge portion of my practice. Asymmetry is normal and expected. Buccal fat pad gives slimming not symmetry. Masseter botox will make you slimmer and make the jawline more loose. Fillers help give shaping and contouring. If you want perfect or close to perfect symmetry you need maxillofacial surgery or implants customized. I suggest seeing an expert to go through all options. Most of my younger clients use fillers to give them shaping especially on the cheeks, jawline, and chin which make the face look more slim and tight; and threads such as PDO or Instalift can build collagen and support the facial shaping and skin looseness over time, slowing down the aging process and given the face a more “snatched” look; and morpheus8 or PiXel8 deep microneedling RF can tighten crepe skin especially on the neck and jawline and is great for long term tightening of the full face, neck and chest; its often used to give the face a slimmer more sculpted look because it tightens the skin and gives lift. an early face lift can be performed as well even in younger clients if they want a different facial shape, maxillofacial surgery with bone breaking or shaving can also be done. Based on your photo, liposuction may be an option but you appear to have minimal excess of fatty tissue under your chin/jaw. Skin tightening may be another good way to address that area.
Filler can help soften marionette lines.

Based on the picture, you do look like a candidate for liposuction and morpheus 8 for skin tightening. However, without pinching the area, it's hard to tell if it's fat or just skin in that area. I would also recommend fillers for the jawline - this will give you a more defined jawline, chin, and angle of the mandible (the L were the base of the ear meets the jaw). I would recommend filler for the marionette lines and botox at the lower chin (to block the muscle pulling on the area). Hope that helps.

Making facial assessments is not easy even for those who work in the field.
To start with we always need precise quality pictures. Your picture needs to include your entire face because aesthetics is always a sense of balance or relationships between one part of the face and the other areas. you can black out the eyes if you want to maintain anonymity or crop hair etc.
The face is generally divided into the upper third mid-3rd and lower third. The lower third is primarily determined by the shape and size of the mandible. in particular the relationship of the mandible to the bone of the mid face called the maxilla. while we don’t have x-rays we can still tell a lot about your bone structure from a regular photograph.
For example your chin project very nicely in comparison to your lower lip. At the same time your upper lip has more projection than your lower lip this tells me that your mandible is lacking in size and projection but it’s probably not in the mentalis region or the chin part of the mandible. most likely the area where you need volume or length is further back in what’s called the body of the mandible. To treat that is generally done by jaw advancement surgery. Moving the part of the mandible that holds the teeth will change your dental occlusion. It would most likely rebalance the front of your face so that your lower lip projects more than your upper lip which is generally seen in ideal facial aesthetics. Because you didn’t include your full face we are a bit limited but it appears that your upper teeth may have at forward slant because the central part of your mid face or the area just above where your nose begins sits a little far back.
Lack of mid face projection is an issue related to the Maxilla.
Everybody’s born with a unique facial appearance. What differentiates each unique person and allows us to recognize people is almost exclusively based on facial skeletal structure. Soft tissue coverage tends to be very consistent from side to side and from person to person. likewise just like the unique appearance of each person‘s face is based on bone structure so is the foundation of facial aesthetics.
Often the true cause of why someone looks the way they does ends up being a bit complex and treating the primary problem is more involved than most people want to get into. there are surgeries that can rearrange facial skeletal structure and placed a facial skeleton into a more harmonious aesthetically ideal position.
Most people try soft tissue manipulation first with the use of things like chin implants or the use of fillers.
The problem with augmenting your chin is that the projection of your chin itself is not the area where you need augmentation. Excessive forward augmentation of the chin or mentalis while deep in the Socas between your chin and lower lip and worsen your labiomental angle. Eventually excessive chin projection creates an appearance which we describe in plastic surgery as a witches chin.
You may benefit from mandibular augmentation but it is not ditching were most of your problems lay.
Most likely will have a at least moderate dental overbite occlusion.
One way to get a better idea of an augmentation of the chin would look like if they use computer simulation programs which while not exactly the same as doing surgery can give a pretty good idea of what volume can do in certain areas.
Another way to approach this is the use of temporary fillers.
I’ve even injected saline solution and immediately taking a picture afterwards as a reference to allow people to see what volume in certain areas looks like. obviously Celine injections will only show volume for a few minutes but by taking a picture immediately after the injection the patient has a reference point before committing to more involved and potentially expensive procedures. Injecting water is not the same thing as injecting fillers and all of the different treatments have their pluses and minuses. There are three basic ways of augmenting the chin. They are using a silicone or porous implant, sliding genioplasty or the use of fillers. for those who are not certain or want to experiment fillers is an excellent place to start because it can be adjusted overtime and it is extremely forgiving if you don’t like the outcome.
I think you’ll find that the ability to make an accurate assessment and take all of these variables and more into consideration may be beyond what many plastic surgeons do during consultations. Some have the insight, knowledge, experience and proper training to do very in-depth complex assessments a facial aesthetics and some simply just do what the patients ask for.
My experience has been an oral surgeons tend to see things more from a facial skeleton perspective and her sometimes better at doing facial assessment based on bone structure.
Conservative augmentation may be appropriate in your case but other procedures may be even better.
Mid face augmentation in conjunction with conservative volume of your chin may be ideal.
You only included a profile of one side of your face and while it’s a reasonably good picture it does have some bad shadows, lacks showing your full face and to get a good assessment we need really good quality pictures. Look at how plastic surgeons take their before and after pictures and try to emulate those. It’s a good idea to show both and left sides staring straight forward using the timer on your camera or have someone else take the picture from at least 6 feet away. you can then crop the picture but try to include as much of your face as possible. for frontal pictures you can black out your eyes for anonymity but a frontal picture is also very important to get more complete information.
I suggest having multiple in person consultations with local board-certified plastic surgeons and also oral surgeons.
Listen to what each one has to say and see how far or how in-depth they take your facial assessment.
Simply going straight to the point and saying yes or no chin augmentation without a discussion of the rest of your face is a simplistic view that shows someone may be slightly lacking in expertise.
It is inherently a complex process and it’s all about relationships between one area compared to the adjacent areas.
During each consultation ask each provider to open up your portfolios and show you their entire collection of before and after pictures. Asked to see as many pictures as possible of patients who have the most similar facial characteristics to your own.
Asked to see examples of excellent outcomes, average outcomes and less than outcomes.
Talk to the surgeon about the Revision rate and what the revision policy is.
 An experienced surgeon should have no difficulty showing you at least 50 sets of before and after pictures of commonly performed procedures.
Being shown a handful of preselected sample pictures which most likely represents the best results of the providers career is insufficient to get a clear understanding of an average results look like in the hands of each provider.
In the end the most important decision is finding the most talented and experience provider. In the hands of the right provider he will get quality recommendations of the right procedure that will be executed in an accurate and predictable manner.
You will know what to expect and what you expect will be delivered more frequently and consistently and in the hands of those who lack sufficient skillet experience.
Find the right plastic surgeon and everything falls into place.
Avoid virtual consultations and Ryan instead exclusively on in person consultations staying local whenever possible.
