Are my breast too close together? Do I have symmastia? (Photo)

Thank you for your question. A large portion of my practice is dedicated to revision breast surgery. You do have symmastia and her implants are too large for your chest with. I would recommend a smaller, ultrahigh profile silicone implant with an internal bra/capsulorrhaphy. In fact, I wrote the very first paper on capsulorrhaphy nearly 20 years ago. You do not have symmastia but the breasts are too close together. It is only a matter of time that it will become symmastia. Your implants are too wide for your chest wall. You will need smaller implants.

I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what went wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice.

Your very large and wide implant does not fit your natural breast base so it will crowd close to your sternum. It would be better to go down to a size that fits your frame. Otherwise, just enjoy for now what you have. Your tissue is stretched and will thin and sag with time.

Overall, I agree with the explanation of the surgeon who performed your revision. There's a limited space for a larger implant to fit, especially on a smaller frame like yours. To prevent the implant from falling laterally, the other option is to create a more medial implant pocket. This moves your implants closer together. Although they are close, it does not appear as true symmastia. I think it's a very nice outcome based on your goals. Breasts are never 100% symmetric.

Based on the series of posted photos you are "just" missing a symmastia event. But the correction is not worth the results or the risk vs benefit ratios are not in your favor to try to correct or improve.
