It's been 4 months post op fat transfer to hips and still look straight. Help!

Four months after fat grafting your result should be closed to stable. You can not expect volume increase in grafted area, possibly a small loss? It is not unusual that multiple stages of fat grafting may be needed to achieve improvement in some patients. In particular in patients that do not have sufficient fat deposits to start with. I hope that your plastic surgeon discussed this option with you before surgery? You should discuss possibility of additional fat graft augmentation of hips as well as liposuction of abdomen/waist with your surgeon. Good luck.

3 months is the typical time for seeing the volume results
of your fat transfer. By now, your swelling and your fat survival should be
stable. Minimal changes from now can be expected.



For the areas of swelling, you may consider lymphatic
massages. The fullness is unlikely to change at this point, unless you gain
weight.



Finally, make sure that your doctor is
aware of your process. He should be able to guide you best in your care.

You should discuss this with your surgeon.  You may need to have another fat transfer procedure.   Take new pictures and compare them those before surgery.  You may be pleasantly surprised with the difference.  An in-person exam with a
board-certified plastic surgeon is the best way to assess your needs and

By 4 months, your fat transfer should be pretty stable and what you see is what you got.  There may still be some residual swelling for a few months.

I generally tell my patients at 4 months that they are at least 90% towards there final results, letting them know that there can be minor waxing and waining swelling for another two months or so.  This is true of both liposuction and fat grafting!

is difficult to ascertain your aesthetic concerns with any great exactness. However, at 3-4 months the fat grafts that
you received should have picked up a blood supply and matured. Occasionally, there is some additional volume
to the fat grafting area with growth and proliferation of fat derived stem
cells. In general, the fat grafting
region is quite stable at 3-4 months, but it does take 6-9 months for the final
results of the liposuction procedure to resolve both the swelling, edema and the
contraction. Do not be too critical at
your 4 month results, but rather measure success and final results at 9-12
months. During this time it is important
to visit your plastic surgeon and hopefully they offer post-liposuction
treatments such as BodyFx, UltraShape or Venus Freeze to the liposuction
non-fat transferred regions to facilitate acceleration of the swelling and
edema and kill any subsequent minor degree of fat pockets.

Fat transfer and fat transplantation
for body contouring is often a staged procedure. Two or three treatments may be required and
repeat visit with your plastic surgeon is necessary.
