Since I have seen bleeding and fluid (seroma) after submental liposuction for up to 4 weeks after surgery, I would tell patients to shave or use a depilatory for 6 weeks, then laser, waxing, or any hair removal modality is safe. Waxing as soon as 2 weeks can detach incompletely-healed skin and cause bruising, bleeding, and ridges. I don't even start my patients on their ultrasonic massage treatments until 4 weeks or longer after this surgery. Best wishes! Dr. Tholen
As long as you have good skin sensation in the area, and your incisions no longer have sutures or a scab, you can have a waxing. Usually after chin liposuction you will have some numbness for a few days to a few weeks. Hot wax can burn if you can't feel anything.
Thank you for yourquestion.Waiting about 2-3 weeks should be sufficient. To be sure, seetwo or more board-certified providers in your area for a complete evaluation tomake sure you are a good candidate and that it is safe for you to have thesetreatments.I hope this helps.
We would recommend not to wax for 4-6 weeks after the procedure with normal healing. We recommend to check with your physician to see if your progress is as to be expected.
This is the first time I have been asked this question. It's a good one. On the most basic level, you should not do anything physical in an operated area that causes pain.If the area is still tender, then it is much too early to have any kind of secondary treatment. The good news is that the neck tends to heal rapidly. If I had to guess, I would say three weeks seems like a reasonable amount of time. Please check with your plastic surgeon prior to having procedures after your operation.Best of luck,Mats Hagstrom, M.D.
Dear PiinkSparkles,In general, chin liposuctionperformed with SmartLipo™, BodyTite™, NeckTite™, VASERLipo™ or traditional lipo will result in good skin adherence of theunderlying chin skin to the chin contour. Once this adequate adherence has been achieved, you can be more thanfree to undergo laser hair removal of the underchin area or waxing or simpledepilation. Performingwaxing, which can pull of the skin too early can pull the skin away from theunderlying contour and may predispose to seroma or adverse healing.Ofcourse, simple depilatory means such as shaving can be performed at anytime. I would wait till four to sixweeks to perform aggressive waxing manoeuvres. Laser hair removal is also very successful for long-term removal andthis again should be performed at four to six weeks following your procedure.I hope this information has been ofsome assistance and best of luck.Sincerely,R. I typically ask my patients to wear the chinstrap for the first 24 hours. After that, they they can take it off to wash it and wear it on and off for the next week. I typically encourage patients to wear it for at least 12 hours a day for the first several days. They are easy to wash. Get some...
Hi Amanda, Thanks for the question! Some swelling is natural after liposuction. However, when you're hearing a swishing sound after liposuction it can signify a collection of blood or clear serum which may need to be looked at by your plastic surgeon. Are you wearing a compression garment...
