Is level 5 for miraDry the standard now for treatment?

Level 5 is absolutely the new standard, used with tumescent protocol.  Having it at level 5 all the way helps reduce the need for multiple procedures.

Great question!  At this time, a Level 5 setting for MiraDry is the highest energy setting and is safe and well tolerated.  Many patients only require a single treatment using this setting.  Those with severe hyperhidrosis may require additional treatments.  Speak with your provider, and communicate during the procedure if you experience any discomfort.  Good luck!  Dr. Aldo :-)

 Thank you for your question. We were one of the first providers in Houston to have miraDry. We now routinely use the level five energy setting which is the highest level. We have found that by modifying our Anesthesia technique, we can do this safely without risk of injury to the underlying structures. The Anesthesia component is very important, and not all offices are able to offer this. 

I have co-authored a book on MIradry and continue to see excellent results with the treatment. I would not suggest a cookie-cutter approach to the Miradry.  I titrate the level based on patient specific factors. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Los Angeles

Thank you for your clinical post and question. Axillary hyperhidrosis can be a very
embarrassing and concerning symptom for patients who suffer from this
syndrome. miraDry is one of the best
long-term solutions for axillary hyperhidrosis and has generally completely
replaced other surgical techniques such as subdermal laser or ultrasonic heating
or cervical sympathectomies. The miraDry
procedure has evolved over the past few years with use of more tumescent
techniques, higher energy settings such as level 5 will tend to produce a more
consistent long-term if not permanent result after two treatments. At SpaMedica we’ve been performing miraDry
longer than anyone else in Canada perform well over 100 treatments and have
evolved to level 5 settings to achieve the best result. Remember that miraDry not only significantly
reduces or eliminates long-term axillary hyperhidrosis and sweating, but also
will provide under arm hair removal and reduction of axillary odour.
