What are the chances of miraDry not working?

I have read many reviews about people getting miradry done and start sweating a few months to a year later. I read once the sweat gland are destroyed they can't regenerate. So why are so many people sweating again?

There are 20% of miradry patients that return for a second miradry treatment.  Usually in these cases, the injured sweat glands were not destroyed and were repaired over time instead.

MiraDry is the only FDA cleared non-invasive treatment that can safely remove underarm sweat and odor glands by an average of 82% as well as aid in the reduction of underarm hair growth. Once the sweat and odor glands are eliminated, they cannot grow back resulting in immediate and lasting results. Hi Kelly.The chances miraDry does not work are extremely low. Our patients love their results and many have called the treatment "life changing". One treatment should take care of 80% of  the sweat glands in the underarm area. However, people who sweat heavily will do so in other parts of the body and miraDry does not help there. Best wishes, Dr. ALDO :)

@kelly235Commonly, after one treatment in our office (at the highest setting, with an appropriately sized template) our patients have a 70-85% reduction in sweat AND odor. We will do a follow up iodine and starch test 4-6 weeks after treatment to determine the amount (if any) of active glands, and will do a second treatment if necessary at half price. Thank you for your questions. It is very reasonable to question the effectiveness of any procedure.  miraDry has been a very effective procedure in my practice, but I have had one patient that I did go to surgery for a definitive result. Prior to the surgery, I did test the armpit region to see which areas were still sweating. I noticed a dramatic reduction in the sweating surface area, however, the surface areas that were still resistant were sweating effusively.  In addition, with some of the newer techniques and protocols that I am using, I find that the results to become even more effective.
