It's been a month since I started considering rhinoplasty done. I need an opinion from different surgeons regarding my expectation and real results. Basically is it worth to get a surgery done? Or the surgery will not dramatically change the shape of my nose? What are my options? Which type of rhinoplasty I need to go for? My face got asian-mongolian features, I have wide nose and I would like to have a thin beautiful nose.

Answer: Does a Rhinoplasty give me a "perfect" nose? There is no such thing as the "perfect nose". While a rhinoplasty can improve and refine your appearance, it is an elective procedure and only you can determine if your nasal features concern you enough to do something about improving the cosmetic appearance of your nose and whether it would worthwhile. You must be realistic about the result and realize that what is "perfect" for one patient would not be for someone else. Following the advice from a surgeon on this or any other website who proposes to tell you exactly what to do based on limited 2 dimensional photos without examiningyou, physically feeling the tissue, assessing your desired outcome, taking a full medical history, and discussing the pros and cons of the operative procedure would not be in your best interest. I would suggest you find a plastic surgeon with extensive nasal surgery experience who is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and ideally a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) or the Canadian Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (CSAPS) that you trust and are comfortable with. You should discuss your concerns with that surgeon in person. Additional information about the procedure will help you decide if it is a procedure that you want to pursue. Answer: Rhinoplasty and expectations To get a more accurate assessment of your nose, you need to schedule a consultation with a rhinoplasty specialist. This will allow you to get a thorough examination and evaluation which should include photos and computer imaging. You will then be able to better understand what is a reasonable expectation for your nose.
