Does fat transfer to breast and/or butt work just as well for older women? Does peri or post menopause age make a difference?

Many of the studies are relatively new and not high in power to make full determinations about age and fat transfer.  However, anecdotal evidence shows that age is not a major factor in fat graft results.  The oldest patients I have performed fat transfer was 73 year old and had excellent results.  Best of luck.  Dr. Michael Omidi

I am not aware of any science that indicates that the results of post-menopausal fat transfer is substantially different from pre- menapausal fat transfer.  In my breast reconstruction practice, I have used fat transfer extensively across the spectrum of age.  I think fat transfer is one of the best advances in the management of contour deformity after breast reconstruction to have emerged in the last decade. Fat transfer results can be related to surgeon experience with the technique.  But I teach the technique to my residents on a daily basis, and it is quickly learned and reliable.
