Do I have gynecomastia? Is this glandular tissue I am seeing? (photos)

The best way to tell would be by booking an in person consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon. It is hard to say without a physical examination. Some men have a build up of more glandular tissue, some of more fat, and some a combination of both. If it turns out you do have gynecomastia, it looks as though it would be a mild case. You would still have to remove any excess gland or fat surgically, but in experienced hands the procedure is simple and results in minimal to almost imperceptible scarring.

It seems that you may have a mild case of gynecomastia.  In most cases of patients with mild gynecomastia using smart liposuction can simply allow your surgeon to remove your breast gland, depending on dense the breast gland is. Gynecomastia comes in many varieties. Many times it is mild but it can really hold guys back who are trying to look their best. Mild gynecomastia basically hides the lower border of the pectoralis muscle and causes some excessive fullness beneat the nipple area. This can usually be fixed very easily and excellent results should be expected. good luck.

Without performing a physical exam it can't be determined if you have breast tissue or just fat. If it doesn't bother you, you do not need to do anything. If it does bother you, be sure to consult with a board certified plastic surgeon who specializes in gynecomastia. If you have breast tissue and only liposuction is performed, the breast tissue will remain and be even more prominent. Good luck

Without a physical exam I cannot be sure but it looks like you do have a modest amount of gynecomastia. This could be resolved with liposuction plus maybe a small incision along the lower aerola edge to remove the fibrous gland just below the nipple. See a surgeon who does a lot of gynecomastia work. Without examining you it is difficult to be certain but it does appear as though you may have a small button of gland underneath your nipples. This can easily be removed through a 1cm incision towards the armpit (so its well hidden) using the pull-through technique. Nothing works as well in determining the nature of your breasts like physical examination.   You can do this yourself.....simply put your hand on your hip and push in hard to tighten the underlying pectoralis muscle, and with your other hand pinch the area.   If this feels to be about a centimeter, or half an inch, then you have normal breasts.   Sometimes a very developed pectoralis muscle can mimic excess breast tissue.    You should consult a local plastic surgeon well versed in this kind of surgery.

Gynecomastia can be treated surgically. I urge you to check out before and after images to get an idea about the results other men have experienced. Even mild gynecomastia can effect the way a man looks and feels. After surgery, ideally you will have an even contour with scars that are barely perceptible. Take your time looking for a plastic surgeon with a lot of experience and expertise performing gynecomastia surgery.

Thanks for your question and photo.Based on your photo it seems you may have some excess chest fat and maybe some gland. The treatment for this would be liposuction and gland excision.I recommend you start with a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon.All the best!

Glandular tissue feels slightly 'rubbery' whereas fatty tissue feels soft.  Please don't depend on your own tactile senses to make the distinction but rather I suggest you see a board-certified plastic surgeon experienced in treating gynecomastia.  Not all gynecomastia requires surgery but a thorough pertinent history and physical examination is important in your overall assessment.  Good luck!
