Hi. I am looking for opinion. I just have gynecomastia surgery at about one month ago on both sides. I just realized contour of my right side of the chest is different from the other side and my nipple is also not level with the other side. It is clearly seen while flexing my chest muscle. I want to ask what is happening and what can I do to solve this problems? Photos attached. Thank you
Answer: Asymmetry after gynecomastia surgery The asymmetry could be due to a few different things. You actually may have had some asymmety before the surgery. Most people are a bit uneven from side to side. Review your pre-op photos. Also there might be a difference in the amount of tissue removed from the two different sides. It looks like your right side is thinner than your left. Check in with your surgeon for his / her opinion and ask about massaging which might help.

Answer: Weird look and asymmetry after gynecomastia surgery. What can I do to solve this problem? Thank you for sharing your question and photographs. Though early in your recovery it appears that you do have some contour issues on your right side which may be swelling (and will resolve) or due to the underlying gynecomastia procedure. I would start massaging the tissues to help speed healing, and soften scar but would also recommend examining your preoperative photographs to assess underlying nipple position asymmetries, as this should not have been altered. Hope this helps.

Answer: Postop Gynecomastia Thank you for your photographs and question, I’m sorry to hear you’re having some concerns with your results. I tell my gynecomastia patients that final results won’t be readily apparent for several months after the procedure (usually 6 or more). There will be substantial swelling and normal inflammation for the first several weeks after surgery, during which compliance with compression garments and limiting physical activity will be crucial. While you’re still relatively early on postop, I recommend you share your concerns with your Plastic Surgeon. He or she will want to be kept involved with your progress and should have the best insight as how to manage any issues that arise. I hope this is helpful, best of luck to you. Peter A. Felice, MD

Answer: Pre-op photos would be useful Hi, At 1 month it is still very early and everything looks reasonably ok. It is impossible to comment on the asymmetry without seeing what your chest looked like before surgery. Minor asymmetry is very common. I would allow everything to settle down and for all of the scar tissue to soften. This can take up to 6 months. At that point you can discuss any concerns you have with your surgeon. Good luck.

Answer: Gynecomastia Good evening and thank you for your question,It seems that you have over resection of the glandular tisuue on one side and you will need a correction in the form of fat injection into the side which is depressed.I would suggest that you should meet your orignal plastic surgeon in order to get this done. This will not sort out without doing a surgical procedure again. Thanks and regards,Dr. Amit Gupta
