I am unhappy with the vertical length of my chin. I would like to reduce the length by 1-1.5cms. However the idea of having screws and plates and other medical hardware permanently "installed" does not sit right with me. Is this possible via shaving down the bone of the chin alone without the use of hardware?

Answer: Vertical Chin Reduction The submental approach is the one technque to vertically shave the chin which does not require plate and screw fixation. This also allows soft tissue management of redundant soft tissue chin pad tissue. Reducing the vertical length of the chin by as much as 15mms may be over estimating what you need or can be done.

One soft-tissue eccess the second is a bonus contour excess .Both of these problems can be addressed through a sub mental approach and depending on the anatomy and/or contour deformity it may be accomplished without any plates or screws.
