Hello, All my life I've had a hairline where there is very thin hair close to baldness at my temple area similar to a males natural hairline. I was wondering if there are any treatment options for someone with naturally thin hair, to help thicken and increase the hair in those areas, and what those treatment options were. Just to be clear, I don't have a widow's peak just thin temple areas.
Answer: Temple hair loss This is quite a common complaint I see in female patients and it is very amenable to hair transplantation. Transplanting hair grafts to the temples typically receives very nice results in providing hair density to the thinning temples in women.

Answer: Female with thin hair and balding at temples: what are my treatment options? I respectfully disagree with a scalp micropigmentation for this particular case. In my opinion I would add more density into the temples via hair transplant. And also start minoxidil treatment in these areas. Please seek the advice of a hair specialist for consultation.

Answer: Thin in temples? Englewood Cliffs New Jersey In my opinion, one needs to determine if you have miniaturization in the temples or if this is a congenital pattern or from traction. A hair loss expert will perform a history, examination under magnification, blood work and possibly biopsy to determine the cause of your hair loss. If it is congenital, transplantation, topical fibers and micropigmentation can be useful. If you have miniaturization and female androgenic alopecia, excellent treatments are available. These include minoxidil, both oral and topical, finasteride, spironolactone, nutraceuticals, peptides, low level laser and PRP. Traction alopecia can treated. In the early stages ( less than 5 years) regrowth maybe possible. We have had good responses with PRP to early-stage traction alopecia.

Answer: Female with thin hair The first treatment to try is Rogaine 5% applications: give it 4 to 6 months to have enough time to work. I do not believe in PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) injections are truly beneficial. Nor I laser treatment effective over time. Hair transplantation is also an option to consider. As soon as possible consult a physician member of ISHRS.org to make a proper diagnosis.
