I had BA in Oct. After stitches taken out (painful one side) my husband noticed a bump. In the last few days the bump above my incision became painful. My PS’s nurse advised to have it drained and go on antibiotics. Doc at hospital did a small incision and then packed it. He informed me I will need it changed and repacked multiple times. Dont have health insurance and don’t do well with pain so is this really necessary to keep having it repacked since I’m on antibiotics

Answer: Does a cyst near incision really need to be repacked multiple times? (Photos) Thank you for sharing your question and photographs. I would recommend seeing your surgeon for an in-person evaluation and discussion of local wound care. It is rare to have an infection or cyst develop after a breast augmentation, and as they lanced the area the doctor was concerned about a possible infection (the reason for repacking of the wound). If the implant was involved, a much larger situation may develop. Reach out again to you PS. Best wishes.

Answer: Worrisome Your story is worrisome. It appears from the photos that you have an infection, and this could be involving your breast implant, which would require further attention and treatment beyond just antibiotics. Please discuss this thoroughly with your plastic surgeon, including your added concerns. If you are not satisfied with the response or treatment, please consider a second opinion. I would pursue these concerns sooner rather than later. The treatment that has been recommended to you sounds like t might have been an emergency room doctor and the doctor who needs to be paying close attention to you at this point is your plastic surgeon. You should insist on seeing him or her. Best of luck to you.
