Is there scientific evidence that compression garments help mould the body into the desired shape after surgery? Or, they're just mainly for swelling etc.? If there is good evidence, what's the usual protocol for wear after surgery?

Answer: Compression garments Dear KWxxxx, Every plastic surgeon has his own postoperative protocol which he recommends to his patients. Generally speaking, compression garments are used after liposuction and tummy tuck in order to prevent swelling and promote healing. I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon. Answer: Role of garments after breast lift surgery Hello! You hit the nail on the head. We do not/should not depend on garments to provide your ultimate result. The bra is there to hold dressings in place, provide light support to lighten discomfort and help reduce swelling. The bra does not impact long term results. I typically use a soft bra, avoiding underwires that can put pressure on the breast crease - for about 2 months.Best of luck! Be sure to see a board certified plastic surgeon!
