Can I have surgery even though I'm in remission from CRPS?

Question

I was in a car accident two years ago which caused me to develop CRPS in my right ankle. Since the accident I have also developed Fibromyalgia. I am wondering if these conditions are contraindications for cosmetic surgery. I want a tummy tuck, breast lift(possibly with implants), BBL, and thigh lift. As stated, I'm in remission from CRPS and have been for over a year now. I was told that I had a very mild case as well. Are there any extra risks that I should know about?

CRPS and fibromyalgia are not necessarily contraindications for plastic surgery, particularly since the procedure will not target the area where the CRPS was diagnosed originally. It is important to clear your surgery with your primary doctor and to let your plastic surgeon know your full medical history to ensure a safe procedure. Select a board-certified plastic surgeon with extensive experience in body contouring also so that you achieve the best outcome. It is likely you may need to stage some of your procedures into two different surgeries, as it is difficult to undergo and recovery from a tummy tuck and buttock augmentation at the same time. However, you must first consult with the specialist treating your condition and acquiring clearance for surgery. Also please make your plastic surgeon aware of your entire medical history. You should be able to proceed with surgery.  However it is important to review your complete medical history with your surgeon as well as all medication and supplements that you are taking.  Some medications that are commonly used for these conditions may need to be stopped prior to surgery.  Your surgeon will let you know for sure.
