Can I get an abortion right after tummy tuck?

Question

I had mommy makeover 21 days ago. Since the day of my surgery I’ve been bleeding, and spotting dark blood .So two days ago I’ve been feeling sick and spitting so I decide to take a pregnancy test and it’s positive. I don’t want any more kids is it safe to have a regular abortion?

At three weeks after surgery, assuming you have had no complications , it should be safe to terminate your pregnancy. We perform pregnancy tests on all patients the day of surgery in hopes of avoiding this unfortunate situation. This is not always foolproof, however.

This depends upon the nature of the abortion, the postoperative course, the point during the pregnancy, the relative weight gain, etc.  This must be evaluated on an individual basis by your OB/GYN and your plastic surgeon.Report

If you are not experiencing any issues from your tummy tuck you should be able to proceed with terminating your pregnancy.  Your situation is surprising however, as many have also mentioned, that pregnancy screening is a standard practice prior to surgery.  I recommend discussing the situation with your surgeon and OB/Gyn.

While there would not seem to likely be any special issue with this, if you are indeed committed to proceeding with abortion (after a repeat blood pregnancy test and evaluation), you and your gynecologist should make the decision as to timing.

WOW!!!! Did you not do a blood pre operative pregnancy test? And did you not do a urine pregnancy test the morning of the TT? These are usually  preoperative requirements. Best to speak to your surgeon ASAP.
