How many times can you do CoolSculpting in one area?

Question

Anybody know of any before and after photos of a patient doing cool sculpting at least 3 times in one area? I have a lot of arm fat - and I really want to get it down to almost no pinchable fat if possible. I don't want any scarring so do not want to do an arm lift. I'm wondering what would happen if I keep doing cool sculpting.

There is really no maximum number of times that a body area could be treated with CoolSculpting.  It is not uncommon for someone to have an area treated 3 times.  Results do vary by individual, so it is impossible to say what your results might be like after 3 treatment sessions though.

There is no maximum number of times that a body area could be treated with CoolSculpting. Treatments depend on if you got your desired outcome on that cycle. It is not uncommon for someone to have an area treated 3 times. As long as there is still pinchable fat in the area being treated we can keep treating it. It takes up to 16 weeks to see the complete result of CoolSculpting. The ultimate aim of the treatment is to freeze and remove the fat cells and until it is done there is nothing wrong with scheduling the treatment over and over. You can treat an area with CoolSculpting as much as you want as long there is pinchable fat in the area. But at some point, realistic expectations come into play. You can never remove 100% of fat cells in one area with CooSculpting and will need to be worried about loose skin if there is truly that much volume to begin with.

CoolSculpting can help to get rid of unwanted fat by freezing it away. This method can be done many times and you can schedule multiple sessions for better results. There are mainly two major reasons for repeating the CoolSculpting treatment. The first is the initial procedure where you don’t get the desired results. Maybe you were expecting to reduce 50% of the fat in the treated area.

As we all know the treatment can get rid of 25% of fat in the treated area, it is clearly understood that the initial procedure itself has a minimum of two treatments. If you are not happy with the first treatment of removing 25% of the fat you have to talk to your provider about rescheduling a second or third or fourth treatment. Usually, it takes up to 16 weeks to see the complete result of CoolSculpting.

If you are considering a second treatment then it’s a good idea to wait as long as the sessions between the first and second treatment are fulfilled and scheduling another treatment immediately will affect your results. It is good to have too much CoolSculpting as long as your need is satisfied. The ultimate aim of the treatment is to remove the fats and until it is done there is nothing wrong with scheduling the treatment over and over. It is also possible that if so much CoolSculpting had been done then the treated area might end up looking concave or depressed.

Thank you for question!  Coolsculpting is a great treatment for localized areas of fat tissue.  Although there is no limit for how many times one area can be treated, Coolsculpting only address fat reduction and not skin laxity.  When the typical 1-2 treatments are performed your skin should retract back nicely but doing 3+ treatments you risk skin laxity.  Something to consider is that Coolsculpting can reduce the area of treatment 20-25% each time you are treated.  We recommend that you see a Coolsculpting specialist to get assessed. Coolsculpting is an FDA-approved method for fat reduction. It works by applying the applicator to the skin. It freezes the fat up to a certain depth. It does not affect the skin. Once the fat cells are frozen, they will be removed by the lymphatic system. It is a slow process and you normally see results in one month. You have to understand it is a machine so it will freeze up to a certain depth. So if anyone has a high amount of fat in their subcutaneous area(under the skin) they will need more treatments every 30 days. The amount of fat varies from person to person so the coolsculpting provider will be able to give you an accurate assessment of how many treatments you need in each area. Thank you for your question! I have treated the same area on patients at least 3 times before. There is no risk to keep doing coolsculpting as long as you have the extra tissue to fit in the applicator. If you are being treated when there isn't enough fat then you do run the risk of having a "shark bite" where you can have a permanent indent in the area. Theoretically though you can keep coolsculpting an area until there isn't any fat tissue left to coolsculpt! Hope this makes sense!
