Thank you for your question. This is a great question, and it actually just depends on the surgeon that you choose and their schedule with. Everyone's schedule is different, also certain times of the year are busier than others. It would be best to call around and ask board certified plastic surgeons what their timeline is, especially if you are looking to have your surgery done at a specific time.I have actually put together a Breast Augmentation Planner for women just like you getting started in the process and wanting a better understanding of what to expect. I think this would be extremely helpful for you! If you would like to download your free copy today, please go to aBetterBreast.com.Best of luck!
Hi fiercesthunter,It's great that you want to know more about the process before getting started! After an initial consult, we tend to book a surgery within a month or so depending on our OR schedule and the patient's schedule. We then have a pre-Op appointment two weeks prior to the surgery to discuss specifics and address any patient concerns or questions. That being said, it depends on the plastic surgeon you see and their availability! Asking about the surgery booking timeline would be a great question to ask when booking a consult so you can plan accordingly.Good luck to you.Sincerely,Dr. Christopher Chang, MDWashington, DC, Virginia and Maryland
Thank you for this wonderful question! Typically the time between initial consultation to date of surgery is dependent on the patient needs, pre-operative labs or smoking cessation with regard to a breast lift, and the availability of your Board Certified Plastic Surgeon. You will have a second, more comprehensive, pre-surgical visit prior to your surgery to finalize implant size and thoroughly discuss all aspects of surgery and recovery. After 25 years of practice it is important to my practice to help accommodate our patients' schedules to the best of our ability understanding that there is never a right time for surgery rather it is making time for surgery within your busy schedule. It is possible to consult and have surgery completed within 14 days depending on your individual needs. I recommend a consultation with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon where the scheduling process will be able to be defined for you and any questions answered at that time. I do hope you have found this information helpful and I wish you luck!
Hello,I recommend that you contact the Plastic Surgeon's you are interested in meeting with and ask about the timeframe for planning surgery. It is common to have a second, pre-operative appointment before the procedure date but each practice will have their own protocols.Be sure to seek a board certified Plastic Surgeon who specializes in this area. All the best
Thank you for your question. Standard surgery scheduling process begins with an in person consultation with the Board Certified Plastic Surgeon of your choosing. A pre-operative appointment is then scheduled 2 weeks prior to surgery to go over all after care instructions, sign consent forms and take your before photos. Surgery is shortly thereafter. The amount of time it takes from initial consult to your surgery date is dependent upon the surgeons availability, typically 1- 3 months at our practice.
Hi, thanks for sharing your concern and photos with us!First I want to congratulate you for making this important decision. Deciding to get an aesthetic procedure to change your body and get a new life style is a big step! Looking at your photos I might say that you´ll be a great candidate to get a breast augmentation with implants. The size of the implant will depend of what you want and what your body support; the results of this procedure are beautiful, giving you and excellent shape of the inner and outer pole of the breast. Before all this, of course, you need to get a complete medical evaluation and laboratory exams to check everything is fine. For us your safety, always, is going to be first. Have a great day! Dr. JPG
Thanks for your question. In the UK the surgeon should give a patient a minimum of 2 weeks before undertaking the procedure. This is the cooling off period. This allows time for reflection before surgery.
The consultation process varies from practice to practice according to the doctor's philosophy. Some doctors try to book a surgery and close the deal quickly. Others require patients to fully educate themselves over time. It is not so much about time, but about coming to as complete an understanding about the risk and benefits and options as possible for each individual. I call this the "meeting of the minds". I require at least two office visits before making any decisions or recommendations to a patient. To me, the first visit is like a first date, a "getting to know you" session for both the doctor and the patient. I allow a period of time, possibly day or years, usually determined by the patient, between the first and second visit including reviewing of photos. Some patients are eager to proceed with the process and others need time to reflect on his or her motivation or goals. I feel elective cosmetic surgery should not be rushed or performed under a situation of duress or time constraints. Patients need time to digeest information and both doctors and patients need time and opportunity to understand each other.
You will find that the timeframe from consultation to procedure will vary from one practice to another. Obtaining this type of information as you call for consultations will be more precise.Ultimately, careful selection of plastic surgeon and careful communication of your goals will be key.Best wishes.
The time from consultation to surgery will vary greatly depending on the schedule of the surgeon that she would choose. It is important not to rush and there should be time for you to think about the procedure and to have a second preoperative appointment. Most of busy surgeons book 1-3 months ahead but check with the surgeon you prefer as cancellations can occur and earlier surgery dates may become available.
Dr. Davidson is correct. This sudden pain is most likely due to overuse of a surgically injured muscle. However your right (not drained) breast is obviously larger. The question is why? If your breasts were close to the same before surgery and the implants are of the same volume, this sho...
For this question - definitely check back in with your surgeon. Most hematomas resolve within 2 months - but scar tissue can remain or even form. I generally recommend massaging scar tissue - firmly, 5 minutes twice a day - if this is what it is. But definitely get it checked out to make su...
Thank you very much for your question and congratulations on your recent breast augmentation procedure. At four days post-op, you are still in the very early stages of recovery. It is not uncommon for breasts to be sore and feel tight for up to two weeks following the BA procedure, depending on...
