Answer: Choosing Between Thigh Lift Options After Significant Weight Loss Hello sgrmk. Thank you for your question regarding your options for improving the appearance of your thighs after significant weight loss and previous surgeries. Based on your history and your pictures, I would suggest a vertical medial thigh lift combined with an outer thigh lift. Here’s why: Vertical Medial Thigh Lift: This procedure will address the excess skin on your inner thighs. Given your significant weight loss and the current appearance of your thighs, a vertical incision will allow for the most effective removal of excess skin and tightening of the area. Outer Thigh Lift: This will help improve the contour of your outer thighs by removing excess skin and fat. It will give you a more balanced and toned look. I do not believe J Plasma will significantly improve your skin's tonality or address the extent of your skin laxity. Isolated liposuction is also unlikely to yield satisfactory results, as it may leave you with loose skin that cannot retract sufficiently on its own. Combining a vertical medial thigh lift with an outer thigh lift will provide the comprehensive improvement you are looking for. Good luck. I hope this helps answer your question regarding thigh lift options. Sincerely, J. Timothy Katzen, MD, FASMBS, FICS Plastic Surgeon

Answer: What to do? Congratulations on your impressive weight loss! An exam is needed for the best advice, but based on the photos you may have good results from liposuction with J Plasma for skin tightening. If you have good skin elasticity this should give you nice results. I've included a video that I hope you find helpful.

Answer: Lipo I would suggest doing the liposuction to remove the excess fat and doing J Plasma to help tighten the skin. Once healed, you may actually be fine and not need the lift.

Answer: Body lift, lipo-contouring It would be very difficult to give you meaningful advise without in person evaluation. Sculpting of fat in lateral hip areas and tightening/lifting the skin is a general concept but the most appropriate procedure to achieve that can be determined only on the basis of in person consultation. Good luck.

Answer: Surgery outcome To make quality assessment regarding the outcome of a plastic surgery procedure we generally need to see a complete set of proper before and after pictures. If you don’t have proper before, and after pictures and ask your surgeon to forward, the pictures they took. Were looking at anyone anatomic area we generally need to see the surrounding area to put things in context. For example, when making an assessment of the thigh, we need to see the leg and the torso to put it in perspective. If you pull upwards on the skin as your incision line over the buttocks and outer thigh does the contour improve of your buttocks and outer thigh? We typically don’t make plastic surgery assessments with people laying on their back or with their hips flexed. This is going to change what you look like and we make surgical decisions based on what you look like in a standing position. It’s hard to imagine that you ever had hip dips, considering what your hips look like now. Perhaps you just need to have some of the grafted fat removed? Your situation is complex, and I recommend avoiding virtual consults in your case. I recommend you rely exclusively on in person consultations. My first hand experience with Renuvion, a.k.a. J plasma was that it delivered absolutely no benefits to the patient whatsoever. In my experienced It liver no measurable or visible skin tightening. It is a waste of time for individuals. Who’ve had massive weight loss. It will not deliver any significant skin tightening in your case. For that reason, I would probably eliminate the provider who’s recommending the use of that equipment. They may or may not be talented at Liposuction But I personally don’t believe Renuvion adds anything but pain and complications. I regret having purchased the device and stopped recommending it to patients after using it for a year, because neither I nor my patient saw any benefit from its use. I simply couldn’t honestly recommend patience pay for the J plasma treatment. There’s no correct number of consultations needed to find the right provider. The more consultations you have the more likely are to find the better provider for your needs. During each consultation, ask each provider to open up their portfolio and show you their entire collection of before, and after pictures of previous patient who have similar body characteristics to your own Who had the procedure the provider is recommending. For common procedures, and experience provider should have no difficulty showing you the before and after pictures of at least 50 previous patients. This may be less for unique situations. Being shown a handful of preselected images, representing only the best results of a providers career may may be insufficient to get a clear understanding of what results look like in the hands of each provider, with your results are likely to look like or how many of these procedures they’ve actually done. Your situation is complex and to make a quality assessment. We need access to better information. This is best done through in person consultations. Best, Mats hagstrom, MD.
