It is unfortunate that you developed a hypertrophic scar after surgery but it is not necessarily the fault of the surgeon.  Some patients have a genetic predisposition to poor scars and this may be case with you but ultimately it can take up to 2 years for scars to fully mature.  You can start with steroid injections and purchase a topical medical grade silicone medication and/or silicone gel sheets.  We recommend Silagen at our practice but I'm not sure that it would be available overseas.  Follow up with your surgeon and consult with other board certified plastic surgeons in your area for advice.  Best of luck.

Thank you for your question and photograph.  I am sorry that your scar appearance has caused you to regret your procedure but there are options to improve its appearance. I am attaching a link below that you may find useful.  I would establish a relationship with a plastic surgeon in your area that would be willing to work with you to improve you scar over the next several months.  Remember that scar remodeling and improvement will occur for a year after surgery.  Best wishes.

You are in the early phase of healing.  You have a hypertrophic scar and not a keloid.  Steroid injection would be my first treatment option.  Your scars will most likely improve over a year with or without treatment.Best Wishes,Nana Mizuguchi, MD

Hello dear, thanks for your question and provided information with pictures as well.. Most keloids respond to injection of a steroid calledtriamcinolone into the scar. Injections are given every 2-6 weeks until improvement is seen. Occasionally, injections can cause a network of surface veins to develop (telangiectasias), or lightening or thinning of the surrounding skin. Another method is to use steroid-impregnated tape which is applied to the scar for 12 hours a day, hugs!
