My doctor says 6 weeks which I feel is excessive. My readings show that there is no scientific data showing that sitting when destroy fat cells. I've been sleeping on my side, not my stomach as my stomach hurts severely from lipo, and sitting on the toilet. I just want more expert opinions as I don't want to destroy my results. I am 8 days post op.
Answer: Sitting Post BBL Thank you for your question. You are absolutely right that there is no scientific evidence that sitting affects BBL results. However, it's just a common sense recommendation to avoid trauma to the grafted fat cells. That said, I also recommend 6 weeks of minimal sitting for my patients. Please consult with a board certified plastic surgeon. Take Care, Dr. Salama

Answer: When Can You Sit After BBL Every plastic surgeon has his or her own protocols to follow post-op. Because your surgeon knows how much liposuction was performed and how your recovery is progressing, he or she is your "expert opinion". It's been my experience that patients who do not follow their surgeon's advice have a longer recovery.Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA

Answer: When can you sit after BBL? Thank you for your question. Every surgeon will have his/her own preferences as to recovery for specific procedures. With Brazilian butt lift we transfer fat from one area of the body to the other. These fat cells are transferred in microinjections throughout multiple planes in the buttock tissue so that they can gain new blood supply and live in their new home, providing increased volume and shape to the buttocks. Postoperatively, no specific position is indicated and we do not have any sitting restrictions. The pressure caused by sitting is not sufficient to affect viability of the fat cells and so the postsurgical position depends basically on comfort and any other operations that have been performed.

Answer: When can you sit after BBL? You are correct....there is no data that says the perfect amount of time to stay off of you booty after fat transfer. We know that no matter what you do, 30-50% of the fat volume is lost. This is not from pressure but just the nature of how the fat gets its nutrients after being transferred. I have my patients stay off of their booty for 10 days after surgery. This is not really to keep pressure off to increase fat survival , it is more to preserve the shape that I create in the operating room. After the fat is injected, it can be easily moved or displace until it "sets up shop" where I place it.

Answer: When can you sit after BBL? Hello dear!!Thanks for the question and provided information as well. The less you sit on your buttocks the better it is. I personally recommend to use the boppy pillow so you don't make direct compression on it. But remember, all doctors have their own recommendations, and if your plastic surgeon suggest you to wait 6 weeks is because of the results he has seen.Hope this could help and good luck :)
