A year ago, I went for a rhinoplasty evaluation, and the doctor suggested I get a chin implant. Since then, I've been insecure about it. I declined the doctor's suggestion because I was already changing my nose, so I didn't want to have two significant changes out of nowhere. Additionally, the chin implant he proposed looked cartoonishly big. My question is, do I need an implant?"
Answer: Yes- Chin implant vs Fillers A formal evaluation would be needed to determine the best treatment. There are surgical and non-surgical options to correct this. We can place a chin implant, which is a quick surgical procedure. Many of my patients try to avoid surgery, however, so for those patients, we also offer non-surgical chin augmentation with injectable fillers. Fillers like Radiesse, Voluma, BellaFill, and Sculptra are injected into the area to improve the overall appearance of the lower face and balance the jaw and lip harmony. We use cannula injections to meticulously contour and project the chin, soften the chin along the jawline, and improve the chin crease. Implants are a great option once you are ready for permanent chin enhancement. I suggest getting a consultation with an experienced cosmetic dermatologist and facial sculpting expert, or an aesthetic facial plastic surgeon like Dr. Donald Groves; we are both located right here in Los Angeles. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Chin implant Your chin is recessed. You would benefit from a chin implant to make your side view more attractive. The procedure is done intra-orally under general anesthesia, takes about 1 hour to perform and costs $4,000. Best Wishes, Gary Horndeski, M.D.

Answer: Chin implant or no intervention? Thank you for your question. To start with, nobody really needs a chin implant. It’s more a question of body image and perceived benefits to the person. I’m sorry to hear that you have become insecure about the chin projection following a consultation for another cosmetic intervention. In general terms, when the neck definition and jawline definition are good, a chin implant does not produce significant benefits. Additionally, in some instances, the chin is slightly wider, and although the projection is not very strong, it appears adequate in the oblique view. The oblique view compares the prominence of the chin to other elements of the facial configuration, compared to the side view. In general, I recommend 3D imaging and computer simulation for patients who inquire about a chin implant. This is because the front view and three-quarter view are sometimes the angles that patients dislike despite being satisfied with the profile view. My advice though is that if you did not worry about the chin before the consultation, you should not worry about it now.

Answer: Would I benefit from a chin implant? A full set of facial photographs from all angles would be helpful to make a better determination. Implants are placed for patient to have a recessive chin profile. Placement of a small or medium sized chin implant is most common in our practice to augment the recessive mandible. The procedure can be performed under local anesthesia, as an outpatient procedure, and the incision is usually placed underneath the chin where the implant is inserted.
