The scar is slightly raised. I don't have any history of keloids, I usually heal very well with other scars I've had. But I am concerned about this one, since its on my face. I'm in my 20s. I took very good care of the wound, kept it covered with band-aids, rubbed coconut oil on it every day, never let it form a scab. Will my scar flatten out on it's own - if so when? Will the color improve?
Answer: Laser treatment can help flatten the scar Mole removal begins with a comprehensive examination and consultation to determine the likelihood of a mole being worrisome. Excisional and incisional biopsies are reserved for suspicious moles. But it’s good news that most moles are not problematic and are only cosmetic, thus leading to the option of scarless or non-surgical mole removal with lasers and RF and plasma. Our office specializes in non-surgical mole removal. Best, Dr. Raffy Karamanoukian Realself 100 Surgeon

Answer: Mole Removal Scar -- Vascular Lasers (V Beam, Excel V, Yellow Laser), Fraxel, PRP; Siliagen Gel and Growth Factors BioShield It may improve some with time, but a combination would give the most improvement. This can be improved with a combination of vascular lasers like yellow laser, Aerolase, microneedling/prp, skin lightening, peels, and skin care. Sun protection is essential. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with an scarring expert. Silagen gel should be used twice with jan marini bioshield. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Scar treatment Hi, It appears you have raised / hypertrophic scar. My first approach would be to treat this with a combination of IL kenalog / 5FU. For the redness component you could also consider use of a vascular laser. Use of silicone gel sheeting after these treatments will also help. Typically a scar will require a series of injections before significant improvement. If it is still raised despite a series of injections, I would consider using a CO2 laser over it. It is important you see a board certified dermatologist to discuss all of these treatments. I hope this is helpful. Kevin Cavanaugh, MD
