Itchy breasts after breast augmentation? (Photo)

dear Patient: thanks for your photos and question.  The itching sensation is normal following A Breast Augmentation.  It has to do with either your own allergic reaction to either the pain meds or the antibiotic prescribed, or it might be related to inflamation of the nerves.  In either case taking some over the counter antihistamine like Benadryl will help relieving the itching sensation.  Please call your Plastic Surgeon to follow up.  Hope this helps!

Hello and thank you for your question,It is normal to have some itching after surgery due to the healing process and the nerves giving back sensation to the breast. I would recommend taking Benadryl and contacting your Plastic surgeon when their office is open. Congratulations on your surgery and good luck!

Thank you for your question and photo.  It is normal to have itching after surgery, sometimes it's nerves and sometimes it's the scars healing.  You can take benadryl to relieve the itching.

Itchiness of the breasts following breast augmentation is a very common occurrence.  It is thought to be the result of nerve irritation from stretch, which gives the breasts the sensation of being irritated.  Over the counter benadryl may help with this problem, but if the sensation persists, you should be evaluated by your plastic surgeon to see if he/she can prescribe you a topical cream.  Occasionally, the pruritus (itchiness) may be related to a medication (i.e. narcotic or antibiotic), your surgical dressings, or garment.  Best of luck!

Itching after your breast augmentation is normal, due to inflammation and in some cases can be related to the pain relieving agent you are taking. An antihistamine such as Benadryl will likely be effective for the itching sensation you are having. If this does not help contact your surgeon to see what they might recommend. Congratulations on your breast augmentation and best of luck! 

hi thank you for your question and provided information as well... my recommendation is don't worry try to take a antiallergic like benadryl and get consultation with your surgeon to check what happen

You may be itchy because the nerves to the breast are irritable after surgery, or you may be itchy because the solution used to sterilize your skin after you are asleep and surgery begins has dried or irritated your skin.
Follow your surgeon's advice regarding showering and care of the tapes that are on your incisions as you have been instructed.  For the skin that does not have the surgical tapes, try a gentle non-scented moisturizer such as Aveeno, or any other brand of gentle moisturizer.  The moisturizer will soothe the skin, and as well gently rubbing it into the skin will help settle down the irritated nerves.
If this is not adequate for your itchiness, try an over the counter antihistamine such as Benedryl, but keep in mind that these types of medication may make you drowsy.
Finally, a prescription cream may be needed if the itching really persists, but this is not usually the case.

Thanks for the great question! You can try taking over the counter benadryl as that should help. Often times after surgery the nerves giving sensation to the breasts are irritated causing itching and hypersensitivity. If the itching persists your surgeon may be able to prescribe you a topical cream which may also help. Best of luck and congratulations on your surgery.~Dr. Sieber

Early after breast augmentation itching can be caused by soaps that were used in the operating room.  Cleansing the breasts with a Clearwater remove any visible soap could help.  Antibiotics can create an allergic reaction and causes itching but she would usually have a visible rash.  For the present I suggest that you take Benadryl until you can speak with your Doctor
