Is it ok to get a tattoo over the incision scar from Mommy Makeover after 1 year?

After a mommy makeover, it takes time for the implants to
settle (if you got implants) and it takes time for the swelling to resolve.
This can take up to 6 months so I don't usually recommend any revisions
for that time. Specific questions about problems with the surgery are usually
best directed to the plastic surgeon who performed your surgery. Tatoos are okay later on...about 6 months.  Thanks

Once the scar has remodeledPatients occasionally will have tattoos done to camouflage the scar. Make sure it's okay with your own plastic surgeon before proceeding.

As long as the scar has completely healed and is no longer inflammatory, you should have no problems with having a tattoo placed on top of it. Since you have waited for a year after surgery, I would suspect that you will have no problems. 

If you are one year after your procedure and your scar is well-healed, then there should be no problem in getting a tattoo over the area.  If you are getting the tattoo to cover the scar, you may want to consult with your surgeon to see if any scar revision may be possible that will improve it.  Good luck.

Thanks for your question.  Yes you are free to get a tattoo to hide your scar at one year.  Your incision is completely healed at this point.  If you are considering the need to perform a scar revision for any reason, however, you should do this before getting a tattoo.  Best wishes.

There is no problem with getting a tattoo over your tummy tuck incision one year following your mommy makeover.

If you haven't had any healing problems and your scar has matured then go right ahead with your surgeon's consent!
