I had a closed rhinoplasty 9 months ago and I feel like it isn’t thin enough from the middle of the bridge to the tip. I also think it looks crooked. Do you think my surgeon would fix this for free? I am happy with the columella and the side but I am concerned about the front. I also don’t know how to tell him that I want a revision.
Answer: Ask at your anniversary visit, or sooner… It’s impossible to determine the feasibility of revision rhinoplasty with a single photo. We like to review B&A photos and an operative report, and perform an examination to determine candidacy. If you trust your surgeon, he will be happy to help you. Rhinoplasty with patients, like you, with this nasal skin are prone to show minor irregularities that can lead to a crooked appearance. The crookedness may be improved permanently with filler, but if you are desiring narrowing, a revision may be necessary. We check all of our rhinoplasty patients at the anniversary, since it may take a full year for swelling to resolve. When you’re viewing your B&A photos with your surgeon, let him know your concerns and see what he says. Hope this helps you! Dr Joseph

Answer: 9 months post op rhinoplasty. How do I ask for a revision? Hello @Neat711785, thank you for your question. In order to ask for a revision, it is important that you consult with your doctor regarding your specific situation. Your doctor can assess if a revision is necessary and what the best course of action would be for you. It is important to remember that the healing process can take some time, and any changes seen at 9 months may not be permanent. Generally a revision surgery is considered an additional expense. The cost will depend on the extent of the revision and the specific procedures that need to be performed detail in the surgical plan. Best wishes! Alan Gonzalez MD, FACS. American Society of Plastic Surgery Member (ASPS), International Federation for Adipose Therapeutics and Science” Member (IFATS), Colombian Society of Plastic Surgery member (SCCP)

Answer: Revision surgery Revising an operation is a discussion you should have with your primary surgeon. Reviewing your preoperative photographs will be an important part of that discussion. Your surgeon may have a revision policy. The need for revisions are a part of plastic surgery even in the most experienced hands. The surgeon may not charge but there may be fees such as anesthesia and site fees you may be responsible for. Hope that helps

Answer: Nine months postop rhinoplasty. Revision? There is probably some room for improvement, but much more information is needed such as the Operative report to find out what was accomplished in the first procedure, and to determine the thickness of your skin in the tip of the nose which is going to prevent refinement in that area. Also an important understand there's no perfect nose, since everyone has an asymmetrical nose, and an asymmetrical face. Best to have a discussion with your original surgeon
