So I have my TT 8 weeks ago. I still have redness around my belly button and the ends of my incision are slightly sunkin. My doctor says he will watch it to see if I need revisions. My question is have you seen this sunkin scar before? My drains where put on the ends of my incision scar so I’m wondering is this what caused the sunkin. Also I like my belly button shap not the redness I don’t like . Have you seen these things before?
Answer: 8 weeks post-TT concerns The "sunken" area at the abdominal incision will likely continue to smooth out over the next few months as your body continues to heal. Darkening of the skin around the belly button is common and will also continue to improve with time. However, if you experience drainage, warmth, or pain at that area, contact your plastic surgeon immediately for further evaluation. Be patient during this time as your body continues to heal, and keep your surgeon up to date with any concerns.

Answer: 8 weeks post op TT. Have you seen such sunken area on the hips and when will the redness of my belly button go away? Thank you for your question and series of photographs and I am sorry that your results have not been what you anticipated. It is difficult without an in-person examination to determine what may be taking place. Most commonly this is residual swelling from surgery which will spontaneously resolve and improve your incision appearance but if it is residual skin excess "dog-ear" it can be treated with a small in-office procedure. Hope this helps.

Answer: Tummy Tuck Recovery Thank you for submitting your question and photos. You are still early in the recovery process and your body will continue to change for the next few months as minor residual swelling continues to resolve. It is important to follow your surgeon's instructions and visit the office regularly for follow up. The final results are usually evident around the six month time frame. Best wishes on your recovery and a great result!

Answer: Will take a few months for things to change Thank you for your question. The results following a tummy tuck wont be evident for atleast 6 months. There will still be a great deal of swelling that will need to settle down. Eight weeks following surgery, the area will still be quite swollen and the flanks will take some time. This area is still likely to change. With regards to the scarring, the scar is still immature and will remain so for atleast 6 - 9 mnths. This is because there is a greater blood supply during the healing period. Once the scar matures, it will become paler. Also, during this 6-9 month period, as soon as the sun hits the area it will go red and again this will normalise once the scar matures. I hope this is helpful for you BW

Answer: Healing period Your body will continue to change for several months after an Abdominoplasty. Allow adequate time for your new shape to settle in. Occasionally, small revisions are necessary after healing is complete. In regards to the darkness around your navel, it should slowly fade. However, each patient heals differently. If the discoloration does not improve, consult your surgeon. Ask if he/she would recommend using a Skin Lightening cream.
