I had full TT in Dec '17. Had abdominal fullness above incision that was revised today, under local, in office. Fat & skin removed from under the area outlined in the photo and small area of previous incision opened and reclosed. Is that immediate bruising normal or anything to worry about? Also, all over abdominal soreness- normal, even though it was only one area? I would ask my surgeon but it's the weekend. Thank you!

Answer: Is immediate bruising normal or could it be indicative of possible necrosis?
If narcotics are given after a tummy tuck, patients routinely experience constipation. It is not uncommon to go 5-7 days or longer without having a BM. It is best to be on a stool softener to help with this. It can be painful to have a BM when constipated.
Thank you for your question. I would first see your plastic surgeon to discuss this matter. It's very unusual that surgery or swelling would affect your BM's. You may also have to consult a GI specialist for further workup.
Your plastic surgeon will be your best guide when it comes to your plan to tattoo over the scar. In my practice, I would likely ask that you wait until you are at least 12 months out of surgery. Best wishes.
