How long do dissolvable stitches from labiaplasty take to dissolve?

I had a wedge labia plasty 5 1/2 weeks ago and all seems to be healing well except for one area of irritation at the base of one of the end suture line where I can feel 2 little sharp points which I'm guessing are stitches. I believe the doctor used all dissolvable in stitches and I'm wondering how much longer before these should dissolve.

The suture that is sticking out is not likely to dissolve because it is not beneath the skin. I would have your doctor trim or gently remove the tips, so that the poking goes away. It's possible that the buried suture will release these tips and they will fall out with time, but if they are painful, there might be an earlier option.

It can take sutures 6 weeks or more to dissolve, so you may want to wait a little longer. However, if they are irritating you, please speak with your surgeon. Your surgeon may be able to remove the sutures.

Most sutures dissolve in six weeks. Sometimes it takes a little longer. If they irritate and protrude they can sometimes be trimmed down or removed by your surgeon.

Feeling the sutures at one end of the labial incision is not uncommon.  The length of time for the suture to dissolve depends on the type of suture material used and the rate at which your body is able to dissolve the suture.  Most sutures dissolve within 6-8 weeks.  If you notice signs of infection notify your surgeon.

It depends on the type of suture and the size of the suture. At almost 6 weeks out your surgeon should be able to remove them in the office and the irritation should resolve.

labiaplasty stitches usually dissolved at about 6 weeks. If the stitch ends are annoying you ask your doctors to remove them ( even though they are dissolving)
