I got lipo of my belly and muffin top in 2014. A few months afterwards I noticed a significant decline with my energy and I always feel fatigued 24/7, never feeling rested. Before lipo I worked out 5-6 days a week...bootcamp 5 days a week followed by 30 minutes in the gym at 5:25 am. Now I have zero energy and maybe workout in the evening once or twice a week.
Answer: Low energy after liposuction Most patients have less energy than usual for at least 3 months after surgery due to the energy it takes your body to heal and the lingering effects of anesthesia and pain medication. A sudden change a few years after surgery is not related. I would see you primary doctor and have him evaluate you for causes.

Answer: Can liposuction cause a change or imbalance of hormones? I’m not aware of liposuction causing the problem you described this far out from surgery. Certainly can have low energy after surgery but that should resolve in a matter of weeks to months. Clearly something is not right and I believe you need to pursue this further. However, it’s not likely related to your liposuction. Your primary care physician would be a good place to start, they can start evaluating you for other causes such as Lyme disease or chronic fatigue syndrome. Good luck.

Answer: Can liposuction cause a change or imbalance of hormones? I am unaware of any credible evidence that lipo causes any kind of hormonal imbalance . Five years have elapsed since you had the lipo; if you have not a physical in the intervening years, I would recommend that you schedule one with your PCP to determine the reason for your fatigue.Kenneth Hughes, MD, ABPS Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA

Answer: Liposuction Liposuction is a temporary stress which can temporarily affect your energy level until you are healed. Most people are close to full activities between 4 to 6 weeks. I would suggest seeing your primary physician for a worku for your fatigue, and check your thyroid function..*

Answer: No physiological changes from liposuction no one has proven any physiological changes from removing fat surgically other than simply fed being removed and hopefully better Aesthetic looks. There are no known health benefits and no known changes and hormones. Talk to your primary care doctor and get a work up for your symptoms. Over three years they could be many things that have changed. People feel tired while recovering. This typically gets back to normal within a month or so at most. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
