‘Blood’ dripping right after lipo. PS not concerned. Is this normal? (photo)

Question

Hi, right after my procedure I felt fine so I walked around to have dinner. But when I got back I found ‘blood’ dripping from the lipo site. I called my doctor immediate and he explained that’s not to be concerned as it’s not active bleeding since I don’t feel dizzy and my blood pressure was normal when I was discharged. This is just left over fluid in the body. Just wondering is this normal to have such ‘bleeding’ right after the procedure?

Yes, this is totally normal and expected after liposuction.  The excess fluid in this area will drain sometimes for a few day.  Remember to follow your surgeons post operative instructions.Best of luck to you.

it is unlikely that you're bleeding. You probably did bleed somewhat during the procedure and some of that blood is still left in your tissues. There was large volumes of numbing solution placed that leaks out. Small amounts of blood mixed with a large amount of fluid still looks like blood.  Are you still bleeding? Unlikely Have faith, Mats Hagstrom MD
