I had surgery 4 weeks ago. There are previous scars on my abdomen from other surgeries. The Doctor suggested I pull the skin up as I fasten my compression garment, but it slides back down and leaves deep creasing in the scars by the end of the day. Previous apendectomy, tumor with partial small intestine removal, and 2x pseudocyst removal 22-24 cm. Age 40
Answer: Liposuction Another option is to use a board or a foam pad that will ensure your garment does not cut into your skin and leave a depression. These are widely available from garment stores or plastic surgery centers.

Answer: Creases after liposuction I prefer to use topifoam or lipofoam under garments to avoid creases from the garment. As for your scar site, you may eventually require scar revision in order to avoid a crease.

Answer: Can I use Gaffer's tape to hold the skin in place before placing garment? Very very doubtful using a tape effect will correct these issues. But only in person opinions count, seek private practice boarded PS consultations.

Answer: Skin manipulation because of previous scores much of the disfigurement the scars can leave comes from scar tissue that contracts over time pulling the skin in towards the muscle layer. It's not really that it pulled the skin up down or sideways. It usually pulls the skin straight in towards the muscles though people who have skin laxity may see this differently because the scar anchors the skin and prevents it from dropping down from gravity while the skin in other areas does. Often liposuction alone will lower the skin closer to the muscle layer matching the distance of the areas that had scars. You will not see this affect until at least six weeks after surgery but three months it's more appropriate to get an accurate representation of final results. For sure you should check with your doctor to see if here she would recommend using this table. It's simply inappropriate for anyone else to give you postoperative recommendations. I would not want any doctor telling my patients what to do that's different than my recommendations after I've done surgery. What do I think about this? My personal belief is that it will not make a difference. Not to say you won't look much better and your scores will be improved in their appearance because of the liposuction but rather the tape will not change your results. Personally I believe liposuction and results are the term and when the doctor post at the cannula for the last time. From then on postoperative care does not change the results. Without surgical intervention or some actual fat manipulation treatment people cannot change the fat distribution. You can't move where the fat is inside your body after liposuction. I suppose the concept is that the scar tissue will form with your skin in different places because of the pulling or tape. I simply don't think it'll make a difference. If it does work and you can pull the skin into a new location then wouldn't this creates the skin to not look abnormal because it's bunched up in an area where it wasn't before? I don't think you should consider this bothering your doctor. Please contact him or her and ask for their advice. I'm sure you paid a substantial amount of money for the surgery and your doctor was happy to take the money. With that feed comes appropriate quality postoperative care. I hope your results will be beyond your expectation. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
