One year ago I had 220 cc I believe it was, of fat removed from my abdomin for fat transfer. At first my stomach was very uneven and I had some creases above my belly button that my surgeon “popped” out about 8 mntha after my lipo was performed. My stomach is left uneven and there’s a bad looking indentation just below my belly button you can really see from the side. Is there anything I can do to fix this? What would cause this to happen? My PS is a long drive away so hoping to get some help here
Answer: Contour Irregularities in Abdomen post Lipo Unfortunately contour irregularities are a common result of liposuction in the abdominal/lower abdominal area specially when the liposuction is just done to harvest fat for a Fat Transfer, and its not done to provide the patient with a flatter, even stomach. You will need to go back to your Plastic Surgeon, or set up other consultations to have your abdominal area evened out. This might include several options available, from non surgical to options like corrective liposuction and a mini tummy tuck to remove excess skin.Make sure you always go to Board Certified Plastic Surgeons who are ASPS and ASAPS members and fellow of the College Academy of Surgeons (FACS)Ron Soltero Md FACSBoard Certified Plastic SurgeonMember ASAPSMember ASPS

Answer: Consider a revision It’s a common problem we see after liposuction. Contour regularities. In your situation I think it might be prudent to seek advice from a plastic surgeon about having some fat equalization done. This would be taking fat from your prominent areas and placing it into the indentation areas. Some people are very adept at this so do your research. Good luck

Answer: Why is my stomach uneven and have indentations one year after abdominal lipo? Thank you for your question and photos. The answer is multi-factorial. Liposuction is done by a lot of surgeons and non-surgeons, because it is perceived as a simple operation. Most people do fat reduction liposuction and is not based on the patient's underlying muscle and bony anatomy. Most surgeons do not have the appropriate instrumentation and/or tools to create natural looking results. Liposuction is a technical and artistic operation. Most surgeons operate in 2 dimensions (just reduce fat content), I approach this operation in 3 dimensions (not just fat reduction, but also a revealing operation). Your result is from poor technique and not being familiar with the nuances of liposuction surgery. That is why my body sculpting practice is over 50% redo liposuction of unhappy patients from other surgeons' work. Sometimes, these are hard to fully correct, but you will always have a more natural outcome.See a board certified plastic surgeon experienced in advanced body sculpting techniques for an in person consultation/evaluation. Good luck.

Answer: Uneven after liposuction Dear Cougar67,While there is always a chance for contour irregularities with liposuction, someone who takes their time and uses the appropriate sized cannulas should give you a superb result.I have all my patients wear compression garments and I use multiple sized cannulas to feather out the result. If you are considering a revision surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.Daniel Barrett, MD Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery

Answer: Contour irregularities after liposuction Contour irregularities after liposuction are common and unpredictable, especially in the abdomen. Liposuction removes the subcutaneous fat and then the skin needs to "redrape" over the dead space. If the skin is loose or the elasticity is poor, then contour problems can occur. Most of the time this can be improved with non surgical techniques such as CoolSculpting, SculpSure, Endermologie or the other dozen devices used to improve the results of liposuction. These are all outpatient and do not require any anesthesia. Please see a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon to help with your situation.Good Luck!
