I'm two months out from neck lipo and have vertical banding that is causing me significant stress. I read that Botox could help. I had an injector put it in the bands, but it has not helped at all. The PS office says they should go away. Because the Botox didn't work, does that give me hope the bands will go away on their own? I'm so so upset.
Answer: Neck bands This is most likely scar that has formed between the deeper skin and the muscle and if so will not go away on its own and is why botox injections will not work. I would be very reticent to use an energy based device that could make this much worse. Your best bet is likely subcision and LPG to prevent recurrence with little risk or downside. You will need to do vigorous due diligence because you would not want to do something that makes it worse.

Answer: Neck Lift Results--Add thermage, venus legacy, kybella, ultherapy for improvement I recommend following up with your Doctor for a formal evaluation and after care recommendations. It can take up to 6 months to have your final results with a neck lift. To improve your final results, I recommend a combination approach with thermage/venus legacy and Kybella/Ultherapy. I recommend getting a formal consultation with an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Contour defect after neck liposuction Hello, Without an examination, it is difficult to say for sure. However from the photograph and history of botox not helping, I would suspect the contour abnormality is from overly aggressive liposuction of the neck. As the normal fat layer separating the deep layer of the skin (dermis) from the muscle, has been removed, the dermis has scarred to the underlying platysmas muscle which has normal vertical striations (as that is the orientation of the platysma muscle, which you can google image search). I suspect massage and time will help, but may not make these go completely away. If not, then fat grafting to correct the deformity can be considered, but waiting 6-12 months is probably wise. Maintain a good relationship with your plastic surgeon and discuss your concerns. Good luck. ABPS board certified plastic surgeon

Answer: Neck bands after liposuction Platysmal bands can be treated with Botox. Scar tissue bands that happen after liposuction when done in an aggressive manner are not the same as regular platysmal bands. Platysmal bands are soft scar tissue contractor bands tend to be firm and string like. Somewhat difficult to explain the difference on the forum like a real self or without an examination. Scar tissue contracture bands after liposuction are best treated with massage stretching and time I have a small group of patients approximately five, most from real self that I have been following up to see the progression with the exact same condition you have. To date half of The patients have had their neckbands resolved by simply waiting and or massaging. It seems like six months is a typical timeframe for this to go away. I'm recruiting more people to stay in touch with me so I can have a better understanding of what causes these scar tissue bands after liposuction and to be able to give patients an answer with consistency. If you have the time to send me an email every few months and let me know how your progress is going I would be highly appreciative. Also any treatments you've had that I've worked or not work would also be greatly appreciated. You will find many doctors referring to these as normal platysmal bands and recommending Botox. Botox will not work for scar tissue contractures.Best, Mats Hagstrom M.D.
