Saggy mommy makeover at 6 months post-op. What can I do? (Photo)

First off, It looks like you have come a long way with your mommy makeover, looking at your picture number 6, so congratulations on that! Once the swelling subsides, it can be disappointing to find out that your skin elasticity is not corrected by removing some of that skin and fat. Just getting active again will stretch things out a bit, and your skin won't spring back the way it used to. On top of that, your body is trying to reaccumulate the missing reserves of fat that were removed-- that's the so-called rebound effect. That doesn't mean anything was done wrong, but it is a reason to optimize your diet and get to a sustainable weight plan before surgery. Once all those changes settle in, if the skin is loose in places, that can relatively easily be tightened without having to redo everything. You surgeon knows that, and would very likely want to see you get to your goals. Ask for help-- the time, cost and recovery are all much easier than the first round, and your surgeon will meet you partway. I know I would.

Thanks for your question! I think the best place for you to start would be speaking to your plastic surgeon that did the surgery. Maybe he/she has recommendations for revision or to expedite the healing process. If you aren't satisfied with what they have to say, you can seek a second opinion in person. Good luck!

Although photos are included, it can still be hard to see exactly what is going on and needing to compare to your before photos. Regardless, it sounds like you are not happy with your results.

For specific questions like this and about your recovery in general, it is best to speak directly with your doctor or doctor’s representative – such as his or her nurse, or the physician on call for the practice.

You will likely get many differing opinions from members of the RealSelf Community, but they have not personally seen or examined you. Nobody should know you or your unique set of circumstances better than your doctor.

If you feel you are not being listened to or you are doubting your doctor’s recommendations, then it is certainly within your rights to seek a second opinion and get the advice from another board certified physician. This should be done through an in-person consultation with a thorough evaluation, including a review of your history, review of all prior treatment and with a physical examination.

It is important to take into account several aspects among which is the surgical technique applied, and wait at least 1 year to consider a revision . I would suggest going back to your surgeon and discussing your concerns and options for revisions. Don't delay going back.

The hard part about answering this question is that it is difficult to know where you were before surgery versus where you were after surgery. Sometimes the result that people end up with is the safest result that they can have after one initial surgery. Body contouring sometimes requires multiple interventions. After a safe amount of healing, you can undergo a revision that can improve your results and possibly get you closer to your goals since the movement does not have to be as great as it was possibly during the first operation. I would discuss your case with a board-certified plastic surgeon. Additionally, understand that Liposuction has one role, however, excising skin and addressing abdominal musculature, as well as moving tissue of the breasts, have their own role in value as well. Seems like you will need a revision surgery because you didn't get rid of all the extra skin on your abdominal area. The liposuction on the belly doesn't seem enough. Also your breast lift could have been conducted better. Overall, your results aren't bad at all but it is open to progress.

Thank you for your photos and questions. It appears that in order to have improvement you will need a revision. Higher profile implants may give you more of the upper pole fullness you are wanting. Liposuction of the hips and flanks as well as revision to the tummy tuck to address excess fat and skin should improve your results. I encourage you to begin by discussing your concerns with your surgeon.
