How do you know if you have enough excess skin for skin removal surgery?

Hello. I am scheduled for a lower back lift also known as lateral or outer thigh lift) with Vaser liposuction in October 2022. This is the treatment plan that was proposed to me - I opted for this as I have loose skin and irregular contours on my thighs following 2 previous lower body lipos to inner and outer thighs. However, the Dr has not yet physically seen me. How can I be sure I qualify for this procedure ? - I am 163cm, 58kg and 30 years old

These procedures involve the removal of excess tissue and significant tissue motion. While pictures and video consultations can provide a lot of information, the only way to be sure that this will work for you is an in person consultation. During this consultation your surgeon will likely perform a manipulation of your tissue to ensure that all proposed skin can be removed. While this may be uncomfortable, it is a crucial part of the examination to ensure that you qualify.

In general, liposuction will only address an excess fat problem and not excess skin. You would need a surgical procedure to get rid of excess skin.

To be sure what might be right for you, see two or more experienced, board-certified Plastic Surgeons for a complete evaluation to make sure you are a good candidate and that it is safe for you to have surgery.

Without the benefit of an examination or photos it's difficult to give a recommendation. There is no specific measurement that can be given to say whether there is adequate skin for removal.  If you are unsure I encourage you to visit with a few board certified plastic surgeons in your area and listen to varying opinions.

It sounds like you may have not yet seen your operating surgeon who can make a determination about "if you have enough excess skin for skin removal surgery."
