Is rhinoplasty effective for reducing nostril size?

I have a large nose for my face , with the nostrils really large. Is there a specific math/angle for ideal nose size vs face size? Can Rhinoplasty help fix my issues

Photographs and more discussion of your concerns would be hlepful, but yes there are ideal ratios for nasal size. These are a good starting point, but surgeon experience and analysis of your nose, and a close discussion with you about your goals is the most important way to determine the plan for a rhinoplasty procedure.

An alarplasty will improve the width and flare of the nostrils, but the tip and bridge can also be addressed during rhinoplasty surgery to maintain an attractive balance. Projecting the tip of your nose and making it slightly taller will allow the nostrils to appear smaller and more refined from the frontal view. #drdonyoo

Yes, a rhinoplasty can address excess nostril width and flaring.  An excision of excess nostril tissue is performed to address this.

Can rhinoplasty reduce large nostrils? there are several changes that a rhinoplasty can make. A rhinoplasty can be performed to shorten a long nose, de project an over projecting nose, remove a dorsal hump, refine a bulbous tip, and narrow wide nostrils, as well as several other changes such as elevating a drooping tip and in rare cases lengthena excessively short nose. The part of a rhinoplasty that is aimed at reducing the width of the nostril base is called an alar plasty and is performed in those patients who have a very wide nostril base. In general the overall size and proportions of the nose are scaled to match the other facial features. People with very large or long faces would require a nose which is not as small or short as someone with a very small face

Hi there! There are some parameters we follow in rhinoplasty as guidance for an “ideal” aesthetic, though individual consideration is very important. Nostrils can be reduced during rhinoplasty. I call this an alar base reduction and can look quite nice. It’s important in Asian rhinoplasty not to narrow the nostrils too much as it can look operated. Roughly, the nose should be about 1/3 of the face (horizontal thirds). There are many other nuisances for projection, length, etc. Visit with a facial plastic surgeon to determine what changes may best fit your face. Best of luck!
