Thank you for your question.Botox does not cause anxiety. You may be experiencing anxiety overall because you are worried about your result, but the Botox is not causing it.
Hi and thanks for your question. Botox should not cause anxiety at all, in fact it has been shown to improve the symptoms of depression. I don't think that your anxiety is a chemical reaction to Botox or anything like that. Anxiety can be triggered by a variety of events, so, if this is not your first episode of anxiety, my recommendation would be to see the doctor who treated you for it before. If it is your first episode, talking through it with a professional could really help. Hope that helps!
You should be starting to see the effects of botox soon. The window is 4 days to 2 weeks but in my experience most people will start to show the effect in a week. if you don't see any effect by day 10 time to discuss with injector.
I have never heard of anxiety being caused by botox. You may be anxious for a number of reasons but I don't think that botox is one of them. If it is bothersome and not going on its own, get it checked out at your doctor.
Thank you for your question Jamielynnmo. I am sorry to hear about your situation and I understand your concern. Botox is a purified proteinused to address wrinkles associated with facial expression. When injected intothe skin Botox will relax the muscles and smoothen out the overlying wrinkles. Themost common areas of treatment are in the upper face. These include thehorizontal lines seen on the upper forehead when one raises the brows, thevertical lines seen between the brows when one frowns (frown lines), and thecrow's feet seen around the eyes when one smiles. It is difficult to make an assessment without aformal exam in the office where I can view the skin in multiple angles and observewrinkles formed with facial expression. However, I hope the information provided here is useful. The appearance of frown lines is variable fromperson to person. Usually they are in a vertical orientation but sometimes theycan be oblique and sometimes a horizontal line is seen across the upper portionof the nasal bridge. The most common variation is to have two parallel lines, hence the common term "11's" to describe them. But some people haveone, three, or more lines. Some people also will see a bulge in the area whencontracting the muscle. This bulge is smoothened out after a Botox treatment. The pivotal studies used 20 units of Botox inthe glabella area between the brow to address the frown lines. These studiesdemonstrated that the peak results are seen 14 days after the treatment andmost people enjoy their results for 3-4 months. At that point, a maintenancetreatment is recommended. While some people start to see results as early asthe next day, it can take two weeks for full results so patience isimportant. We have our patients return two weeks after their treatment toassess their results via photographs. At that time additional units may beadded if necessary. The safety record of Botox is well established. The product has been used for over 20 years for a variety of treatments withminimal side effects. Botox is amongst the safest treatments for treatingfacial wrinkles. With any injection, there are risks such aspain, bleeding, bruising, redness, swelling, tenderness, and infection. We takespecial precautions to minimize these risks such as using a painless technique. We also treat bruises with a laser as early as the next day. Bruises usuallyresolve within two weeks if untreated. After a laser treatment bruises usuallyresolve in 1-3 days, but may still take two weeks for full resolution. Inaddition to these risks, with Botox there is also a risk that the product spreadsor diffuses to nearby structures. Spread to nearby muscles can lead to sideeffects such as the temporary appearance of droopy eyelids or a temporaryasymmetric smile. Anxiety is not a known side effect of Botox. However, those with a baseline level of anxiety may have increased anxiety after any cosmetic treatment. Anxiety should be addressed by a general physician or a specialist such as a psychiatrist. After a Botox treatment, I recommend that mypatients avoid heat exposure, alcohol consumption, and strenuous exercise for24 hours and not lie down flat for four hours. This is because all of theseactivities may possibly lead to the movement of the product and consequent sideeffects such as droopy eyelids as described above. Although there have been nodefinitive studies shown that these actually occur and some physicians do notprovide such aftercare instructions, in the absence of data I err on the sideof caution and recommend that my patients avoid such activities. Please consultwith a doctor for specific recommendations. Good luck!
Thank you for your question, and you should start to see the results of your Botox pretty soon. Botox will typically begin to "kick in" after 4-7 days, but some may see results earlier. The full effect is usually seen after 7-10 days so two weeks after your injections is a great time for a follow-up with your injector if you are not getting the results you desire. Additional injections may be given at 2 weeks if more correction is desired/needed. Botox typically lasts ~ 3 months for most, but for some maybe a bit longer or shorter, and after that it begins to slowly wear off. Dr. Benjamin J. Botox injections is like any other surgical or invasive medical procedure. Should be explained fully to the patient and discuss all the pros and cons and the alternatives and the expected result.Botox will start working on the muscle starting the 5th day.If you are so anxious about the Botox injections then you were not fully informed and you are not a candidate for the procedure
