Broke my nose after a rhinoplasty, how long is ideal to have it surgically fixed?

I broke my nose it is a non displaced fracture but definitely broken everything is fine as I got it checked and my surgeon said I have to wait at least 3 months to get it surgically fixed. Even though it's non displaced something about it is off. Would it be better to get the surgery at 3 months when there is still gonna be swelling or should I wait a full year when most of the swelling is gone?

If your rhinoplasty surgery was longer than one year ago, after breaking your nose, your current deformity will be free of swelling within two months in my opinion. If you like, consider asking you a question with photographs. I hope this helps. Sincerely, Dr. Joseph

Hello and thank you for your question. Often times patients will sustain trauma after rhinoplasty and get a CAT scan which is read as a non-displaced fracture. This is usually due to the CAT scan picking up the previous osteotomy sites and not an actual real new nasal fracture. I would follow your surgeon’s advice since they have evaluated you in person.

In our practice, if there's been a prior rhinoplasty, and the nose has been fractured and displaced, or a deviated septum has occurred or a dislocation of cartilages has occurred, we perform the surgery soon after the injury.
