Hi, thank you for sharing your question. Liposuction in patients with higher BMI can be done safely but the goals and expectations of the outcome should be discussed with your surgeon in detail.
Liposuction and liposculpture can target areas of stubborn fat. Patients with a higher BMI can benefit from targeted liposuction, but it is essential to understand that liposuction is not a method for weight loss. Many patients also use liposuction to boost their health journey in conjugation with positive lifestyle changes.
Thank you for your question. Most people that are looking to feel better about themselves in certain areas would consider liposuction. Liposuction will help remove some fat and start contouring in a specific area. Patients do typically receive some skin retraction but we have to be careful to not cause extra skin. Although surgery isn't necessarily a be all end all, I always recommend patients to go on a low carb diet and increase exercise. I would suggest speaking with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon in person to evaluate you and discuss your options. Best of luck to you.
Body sculpting is a technique used to enhance your normal anatomy. Body sculpting is ideally done patients with a normal BMI, or slightly overweight as obese patients have a large fat composition in addition to loose skin. Although, it can be done on higher BMI patients that have an ideal figure / shape, it will ultimately be determined by your plastic surgeon at consultation. During the time, your skin quality and laxity can be assessed along with other metrics to determine whether you are a good candidate.
Thank you for your question. With this limited information (no photos or height/weight data), it is difficult to give a more focused answer. Liposuction and body sculpting are not the same. If you are overweight, you can get fat reduction liposuction and depending on your weight, this could be one or multiple surgical procedures. Once this is accomplished, then one can address sculpting which most likely will include skin excision as well. See a board certified plastic surgeon experienced in advanced body sculpting techniques for an in person consultation/evaluation. Good luck.
Dear princessheels,it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
Liposuction can used successfully even if you are overweight to treat excess bulges of fat. It is not weight reduction surgery, however.
You will need to visit with a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss your surgical goals and medical history to determine if you are a good candidate for liposuction. It is best if you are at a healthy, stable weight for optimal results, though each person is evaluated individually.
Hi, thanks for your question. As you may know, Liposuction is not a weight-loss procedure. If you are over 28 or 30 BMI, I would suggest a bariatric procedure. Only after you are in your correct body weight, you can have a Lipo. The so-called body sculpting is a procedure for patients who have fat deposits, not overweight. Consult a board-certified plastic surgeon in your area for a complete exam. Good luck!
Dear Princessheels,Liposuction, as it was traditionally introduced, was for contouring of small areas of stubborn fat deposits, such as the saddlebags or hips. It has since evolved to greater applications such as large volume liposuction to address patients with more global fat distributions. However, in this setting, it often requires a staged number of liposuction procedures, depending on the amount of fat present. So expect to need 2 or 3 liposuction surgeries to achieve a contouring effect. Good luck!
If you are healthy enough for elective surgery, then you should be able to have liposuction done to remove excess fat. Depending upon the number of areas you wish treated and the amount of fat in each area will dictate if all can be done at one procedure or needs to be split into at least 2...
If it is actual fat, then liposuction can remove the excess. If it is also excess skin, you could add minimally invasive radiofrequency to help tighten skin.
I would ask your surgeon how the fat was removed. The pubic incisions may have been used to remove the inner thigh fat. If you have soreness in the area after surgery, then you had liposuction.
